  • Noobs uncaged

I'm going to try a new thing and see how it works.. noobs please don't screw this up.. I'm setting it so that noobs can post (almost) anywhere.. but their first 2 posts are moderated to ensure they're not SPAM/bots.. after 2 approved posts they'll get full site access..

At 5 days and 5 posts they'll get access to classifieds as well...

Again: try not to screw this up people.

To clarify once the criteria is met, it may take up to an hour as it happens automatically on a schedule where it's checked hourly.. so if you hit the threshold and you're not immediately granted full access that's probably why.

For some reason I thought noobs were just going to go at it in this thread. I was about to make some popcorn for all the fun reads.

Personally I think that allowing people to post their own new threads in the classified is going to cause potential issues. Viewing and replying after 5 days and 5 posts is great. Allows someone who is not a total oxygen thief to purchase parts for their cars but allowing them to create their own thread for spam and or dropping by to try to sell some horseshit is what I think may happen. Look at SF... Full of crap.

I like the restrictions... I never had issues with it I understood. This is the best Saturn resource out there, Fo Sho!

If it turns out to be an issue it'll get locked back down. Use the report post button, dispute through paypal, know what you're buying, etc.

                Noobs uncaged

Ehh buyer safety isn't my thought on it. I could be wrong but it could lead to fresh noobs using the FS section (and us) and then leaving without contributing. You can wrack up 5 posts real fast.
Imo Maybe 10 posts or a 1-2week "timer" that lets them view the FS but not participate till it expires.

I've always considered the FS sections to be the second greatest asset to the information on forums

I think this is good, but I think the classifieds section should still be a little more strict.
