Re: 94 SC1, why?
ha! shut up OTHER Tony.
I got this car so I would be able to do all the crap I've got bouncing around in my head for years but didn't want to deal with in a DD type car. I don't give a crap about SCCA or other class specs, I'm building this how I want it.
The plan is to transfer all 'performance parts' from my SL to this shell. Probably keep it OBDI, maybe run a DOHC PCM to take advantage of my cam. As I do the subframe/motor swap, I will swap in a DOHC bottom end, with the goofy 2nd/3rd hybrid pistons/rods for some silly high-comp SOHC action. Not sure if I want to shave the head, because of the well known cracking issue, that and I will probably end up toasting 90% of the valve train in some epic SOCH failure. At which point I will give up the SOHC cause and possibly go boosted twin cam.
Exterior will be a miss-match of panels at first, till I replace everything that's cracked and try out a few ideas I've got but have been unwilling to try on my other cars. Eventually end up rattle can black (not sure if I want flat or gloss, was thinking about trying that new Hammered stuff?). All windows but front will be plastic and tinted. If no-one else has done the 5 lug deal by then I will turn guinea pig and try things out with some 5 spoke stealies off a newer Malibu. Some sort of lip kit will probably be concocted as well, no specifics yet, just ideas.
The interior is already mostly stripped, but I will finish the job as well as ditch any bracketry/etc for the smoothest possible look. Doors and other side panels will be skinned in alum. Not sure about the dash as of yet, depends on OBDI or II choice. If I go II, I will prob go all custom and MadMax the gauges into a few sheets of alum with just a top dash cover. All HVAC will be gone, along with most of center console crap. A sound system is questionable for now, Ill decide once I get to that point.
