    Chinese parts = epic fail

they have absolutely no quality control and sub par materials

          You bought a chinese wastegate?

You're more of a fucking moron than I thought you were.

And to think.. I figured you were starting to redeem yourself and then you decide on this junk. Wow.

          Peace out engine #2!!

              Re: PlasticPower's V2 build Q&A

I hang out on ProbeTalk a lot. Almost every single person on there is running this stuff with no problems for years. It's not the cheapest wastegate on ebay. You can say it's one of the most expensive chinese wastegates.

You're right though, it's my money I am pleased to do whatever I want with it. Boost protection is set to 10 psi in MS. Wastegate flops and I it's just gonna cut fuel and spark. By that time I'll have money again for a better wastegate.

You can call me whatever you want, but I do have full control of fuel and spark and after the first time I am not taking chances with tuning again. Limiters will be set in place this time and the fuel mixture will be proper.

Again, I have to ask you guys what's the worst thing that can happen with this shit?

Wastegate gets stuck closed and MS cuts fuel and spark?
Turbo blows up and destroys a $50 intercooler?
Manifold cracks and I have to weld it?

You know the only reason my old engine blew up was because I turned up the boost to 10 psi but couldn't datalog with my usb-serial adapter and ended up running too lean for too long.

@Justin, google chinese wastegate. You'll find more people saying their Tial failed countless times than you'll hear about a china-gate failure. You see, I work for a cell phone company and our shit is made in china, but marked up 300% with a brand name slapped to it. Materials and worksmanship are still the same. With that said, here's my gate:

                Re: PlasticPower's V2 build Q&A

Honestly just because the phone is the same materials/workmanship, doesn't mean the wastegate is.

The fact that you're using MS to cut if it spikes is good, but I just can't see myself risking it.

                  Re: PlasticPower's V2 build Q&A

I didn't want to either, but then I started reading all the stuff online, and people run them without problems. I seriously have a hard time finding failure stories on the net. A lot of people take this stuff apart and say it looks just as good as the real deal.

I want to get the car back on the road. And yes, I'm counting on my MS to cut fuel and spark if the gate malfunctions. But it's a beefy gate. Inside it looks very legit.

Maybe this will all work? I'm taking precautions, but so far the stuff I received looks really well built. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Someone has to try it.

If chinese shit were sooooooooooooo good then why don't you see them on top dragsters? Oh yea cause THERE'S NO R&D!!!

Chinese shit is just a knock-off. Basically get a garrett turbo and try to mimmic everything inside without any kind of quality assurance testing.

It's your money and i bet your turbo bearings will blow out in like 5000 miles, and then yay metal shards into your engines oil!! AWESOME.

                      Fucking tard

Top dragsters = people with money to blow of shit that they don't really need

This shit will work great, just watch. You'll all be pissed because you spent all the money on SAME shit, with a famous brand name stamped on it.
I read and read and all I see is people blowing turbo seals becuase they don't use a restrictor, not because there was anything wrong with the turbo.

Yup, every single performance shop in the US is WRONG.

Sorry, we forget that 10 minutes of searching on the internet is better than years of experience...
