Got a few more things in yesterday. Looks like things are inching closer to a finished project...

                Re: Scotty's SC2 build

Got my ported head from saturnracing2 today. It's a little rough but couldn't be beat for the price and hopefully this takes care of my coolant and valve tick problems.

                  Re: Scotty's SC2 build

More failure insued tonight. Got the head thrown on, timing set and was putting the upper chain guide on. Put the first bolt in and snap. Now the stupid thing is broke off down inside the head down about 1/4 inch. Can't get it to spin at all so I'm gonna see if I can find an extractor that small tomorrow. Gahhh.

Here's another one, I have a feeling there will be many more of these in the near future.

                    Re: Scotty's SC2 build

Once I got the snapped off bolt out everything else went pretty smooth. Got the entire thing together and fired her up. Still heard the same lifter/valve tick as before and I was pissed but after idling for less than 5 minutes it smoothed out real nice and I was super impressed with the idle of the 2 intake cams. The exhaust note even sounds slightly deeper. It vibrates a ton more though cuz I finally threw the Earthshaker on. I'm not even sure how long I'm gonna run it as it vibrates soooo much, I'll have to see if it improves the driving at all.

                      Re: Scotty's SC2 build

This one is kind of a mixed bag. I got the car going last night, ran awesome but then I had to go to work. Took it out today and wow it idles smooth, power is smooth and it pulls more after 4k. I just kept revving the piss out of it, so much fun. The intake cam mods sure gives it a different tone. I started smelling oil so I stopped and popped the hood. My valve cover gasket was leaking pretty bad so I checked the oil and it was fine. Not a big deal, just let it burn on the header till I can fix it.

Got within 5 blocks of home and it started missing REALLY bad and stalling on idle and then started knocking horrible from the upper end. Took the valve cover off and the intake cam sprocket was insanely loose, I tighted the hell out of it so however that happened I have no idea. Timing probably jumped or something so YAY.

On a good note, I got my leather shift knob on lol.

I didn't really know what to give this one as it was super win for about 2 hours and then lose. I figure this is good.

Well more bad new tonight folks. I finally got around to pulling the head off and sure enough, all the exhaust valves kissed the pistons. *sigh* Not sure what I'm gonna do with this paperweight now.

                            Re: Scotty's SC2 build

Just got in from working on this thing many many hours. Got a significant amout done today. Got the old head back on, oil feed attached to the block, relocated coils(even though I really didn't need to), got the oil pan most of the way out, new pan drilled(gonna weld tomorrow), hole in the manifold drilled for pyrometer(gonna weld tomorrow), removed good majority of the nitrous goods, made a plate for the coils and vacuum block and tach driver, got boost gauge almost wired up and mocked up the turbo to determine where the drain needs to go into the pan.

Wow tomorrow's another day, don't see why I can't have this thing going by Monday unless I run into problems.

Worked on it for a few more hours today. Got the oil pan back on, drain and feed plumbed. I'm not happy with the drain clearance to the downpipe though so I'm gonna remake that. Mounted the fan on the front of the radiator. Started making a plate for my pyrometer gauge and also got the probe in as well as my vacuum block mounted and the tach driver mounted. Started running IC pipes to realize I don't have enough so I ordered more and hope to have them mid next to get this beast on the road by Friday and have it at the local meet on Saturday. Gonna be a stretch so we shall see.
