    The New Daily Driver Project!

Well, Since the 1998 SL was totaled we decided to keep the 1997 SL2 as the new Daily driver. Kinda lucky really since it hasn’t sold yet.

The 1997 SL2 is fully loaded just doesn’t have leather or rear disc. Nice part is with the 97 SL2 is it only has 79k on it and a new clutch to go with it. From there we have already swapped out most every thing from the 98 over to the 97. I’ll get pics of it soon as it was cold last night. But, Matt/Waterboy was nice enough to help me strip the 98 clean and put it on the 97. Thanks again.

    Mods:

    97 DOHC
    MP3
    91/92 Header
    High flow cat
    2.25” exhaust
    No resonator
    Fart cannon muffler with silencer
    Strut tower bar
    Sda throttle body
    WAI
    17x7” wheels
    Tinted windows
    Kenwood CD player
    Fosgate 6.5 inch speakers
    Clear side markers
    Twistec motor mounts
    New clutch
    New valve cover gasket

    Still to do:

Pull lowering springs from the 98 and swap on to the 97
Pull short throw shifter from the 98 and swap onto the 97
Install rear disc brakes onto the 97 (sitting and waiting to do)
Install oil pressure gauge (every car should have one)

We need to get the 97 inspected still to get plates on it. For that I need to replace the windshield and one wheel stud. I also plan on fixing the cruise control on it and to get the key fob for the other goodies.

Out side of that I think that’s pretty much whats going to be done to it. I’ll get pics this weekend when I have some day light.

Obviously needs some work like noted above. But, nothing compared to trying to fix the totaled 98.

Thanks, I have some work to do still on it. But, it should look good once we get the insurance money from the accident. Hopefully what ever we get will be enough to get the windshield replaced and wheel stud for inspections. After that it's time for the 1/4 panels and cruise control stuff.

Oh i got the wheel off by puting the lug nuts on lose and drive it up to the top of the driveway and it popped. I need to get that wheel off by this weekend to have my buddy Jim get the tire off. Then I'll give you the money for the one guy to weld it up if you dont mind.

well, The plans now that we know that the settlement on the accident is.

We plan on getting new lowering springs since i wasnt able to get them out of the 98. Along with a new short throw shifter and the passenger rear window needs to be re-tinted. I'll also be fixing the cruise control on it since it doesnt work. out side of that i think thats it. And finally I'll get the rear disc put on with the oil pressure gauge. oh jesus, i guess it's long list also. I'll be replaceing the 1/4 panels as the previous owner of this car keyed them up or someone did for him.

Re: The New Daily Driver Project! Pictures!

yeah the previous owner had ceramic painted the header blue which is fading away. hopefully it will all go away.
yeah it dont look bad. still needs some things to look the way it should.

No i havent installed them. I gave one to Matt/Waterboy since i only wanted one in my car. but, i need to get an amp and shit first. not a major priority right now.

hahaha i doubt it. it would probably like 500 watts tops...but as long as it works.

2.5" Lowering springs have been ordered.

I need to also make the appointment to get the windshield replaced for inspection time.

Re: The New Daily Driver Project! Pictures!

                        the news:

The windshield is scheduled to be replaced monday while at work. Nice deal $170 installed. Also just the other day the sprint 2.5" lowering springs showed up. So i started the lowering process today. I started on the passenger side mainly since i had to replace a wheel stud to pass inspection also. Tomorrow i should be able to finish that up and i hope to install the oil pressure gauge.

But, i tell you I've had the sprint 1.8" and those did nothing but, lower the rear end of the car and level it out. Then I have another set of aerospeed 2.5" lowering springs on the turbo turd and those did lower it but, not as much as i would have liked it to. But, these sprint 2.5" lowering springs have slammed the 97 DD to the ground. It's more looks like it's on coil overs. Oh, But, the new springs are sitting on a set of new gabriel struts.

Down side I got the the salvage yard that had the stock blue 1/4 panels i needed. When i got there i drove in on the passenger side of the salvage car. But, as i parked the car and got out i noticed the driver side was white! WTF! I was there not to long ago and both were blue and like new. So someone swapped a blue for a white. BS! So well i figured i'd make the best of it and just get the 1 panel. Then as i came around to the the passenger side i noticed a small crack. But, then as i opened the hood the panel was cracked straight down the bolts that hold it in. sucked but, what was i going to do.
