Just thought I would start this up. Pictures of the car currently will be posted tomorrow.

This is what the car looked like the last time I posted pics



But it isn't what it looks like now, I've removed all the stereo, headlights, exhuast, and rims................its also sitting in my grandfathers feild, for the last 2 years.

I will post a full list of what I plan todo to it tomorrow as well...........going to take a long time to build, but well worth the wait. (shit it will probably take longer to build this than SkittlesOnChrome's turd)

Here's some teardown pics







So here is the lowdown on project.

Engine:

350 CI 4 bolt main (maybe a GM performance crate motor, or a custom build not sure yet)
10:1 compression minimum
Holley 650 CFM double pumper
High flow intake, not a high rise, I want it to fit under my hood with no clearance issues
Mild cam (to keep drivability)
Timing gears
Electric water pump
Keeping points ingition with a MSD unit
Hidden Alt and power steering pump

Exhuast

Headers with 3" collectors
High flow 3" cats (I aint' sure about these yet, if I need todo emission testing I will have todo this)
Flowmaster 40 Seris with side exit exhuast, exiting the rocker panel

Transmission/Driveline

Camero 5sp tranny
Not sure about the clutch yet, but I am sure when I need one, I will be able to find something
Driveshaft loop on the chasis to keep things from getting wild
Posi in the rear end, not sure what axle to use, but I will find something that will work

Suspension

Dual A-arm front suspension (from a mustang, S10 or simular car)
Custom 4 link dual triangulized rear with live rear axle
Custom air ride setup, bags on all 4 points, air pump on the motor large tank in the trunk

Chasis

Custom tube frame, built in and around the stock saturn spaceframe
Roll bar integrated with the spaceframe
Fuel cell in the trunk

Exterior

4dr roadster
Custom bodykit with wide body kit
Mazda6 headlights
Custom TYC accord tailights
Acura RSX spoiler
Custom invader hood
Full fibreglass body panels, trunk and doors
Shaved door handles and gas cap

Interior

Completely custom one off interior design, not one stock saturn panel will be re-used, will be all fibreglass.

ICE

Nothing like some of the showcars out there now, with 50 TV's, going to keep it simple and clean.
Design is still in the works, but 2-4 TV's will be expected, 5.1 surround sound, Game system with DVD capability, nicely fitted into the interior design.
Stereo will probably have 1 x 8" woofer in each door, 6.5" and tweeter components in each corner, 2 x 12" subwoofers located in the rear of the car. Front/rear channel amps will be mounted inside the door panels and incorperated within the interior design. Sub amps will be mounted in the rear of the car, or mounted in the tear shaped pods behind the rear seats.

Everything will come in time............

So I found my engine/tranny/driveshaft/front suspension/rear axle

My friend has a guy he knows that has a crapload of old trucks and shit......and he has a old S10 chasis, that got turned into a field truck.........low and behold, its got a 350 4 bolt main, turbo 350 tranny (I know it ain't a 5sp, might change it, but that tranny is bulletproof), and a complete front and rear suspension from a S10, as well as the frame. Not sure if I am going to use the stock frame, but might, depends on how it looks, and if I can get it to work.

Best part is, engine runs, tranny works, and the guy is getting rid of it for 150 bucks............going to pick it up on friday I hope. Will have pics up as soon as I can

So I picked up and tore apart my donor vehicle......

Out comes a 350, turbo 350 tranny, rear axle (nice and narrow, its only 56ish inches wide, perfect for a saturn) not sure what size it is yet, and my front suspension.

Needs ALOT of work to clean it up, although the front frame member still has alot of metal left, so I aint' worried about that. Need to strip, clean, paint and rebuild everything.

I will have the engine torn apart tomorrow, and update pics for you

Well I got the engine stripped...........not one part on the inside was worth keeping, except the crank, and I might get rid of that as well.

I might keep this for mock up only, I will clean it, strip it and check the condition, but since the cost of a new performance engine from GM performance parts is soooo cheap lately, I might go with one of them later one. Just use the block for mock up and fitment.

Also got the tranny alittle more cleaned up, and put everything away for the time being. Gotta get the car stripped more, and get it ready for frame building.

So after hitting the track and seeing a couple 10 second pre FWD dragcars, two of them both Olds cutlass calais, they used the stock subframe, moved a couple things around, welded the seams, new motor mounts, and welded a frame off that to the rear end, I think thats what I am going todo with the frankensaturn. It just seems to be a quicker and alot simpler design than getting that huge front end to fit under a saturn cloth

Just to keep you all up on the build........

The dragwag is going to be the test platform for the showcar........not 100% sure how I will swap out everything when I am ready, but I will work that out later.

More updates, I will have pics hopefully tonight to post, but I have scrapped the idea of using a solid rear axle, found something WAY better.

Who knew a 240SX rear end is a NEAR BOLT ON mod............????????

I knew that about the S13, wanted to something similar, lol. I love the progress you are making, it makes my future project seem easy. Yeah, Im putting a 20B in the coupe with a rwd setup and posibly rhd as well. All this is possible thanks to my wife who letting me buy an AuraXR. Not trying to steal your build thread, I just wanted to say

How are you going to set up the sla suspention and how is the alignment going to work out for the rear wheels.

Finally found something I can use to steer the car, since I have moved the rack and pinion to the front of the car, to give clearence for the V8 and tranny

Got it at the wreckers, of course, and it is off a ford ranger








It needs alittle work, the distance from tie rod to tie rod is shorter than the turd, and the tie rod bolt that mounts to the hub is larger than a standard turd
