99 SL2 The New Daily Driver

[SC2Sick]

Imported a 99 SL2 from Canada last night.

The Good:
173,xxx KM so about 107k Miles
Engine and Trans seem to be top notch
Super clean engine bay, no visible leaks
Keyless Entry
OEM block heater (that will be nice this year)
Tinted Windows
Damn near silent minus the suspension that needs to be replaced

The Bad:
Has tan single cam interior and one piece seats
Automatic Trans
Bad passenger side wheel bearing (400 miles of driving at 50mph sucks by the way)
Paint is flaking on the front bumper (SL1 bumper..) and the car is silver but not a Saturn silver so junkyard
has 14" wheels up front and 15s in the back

The Plan:
Try my hand at painting up a JY SL2 bumper with paint flake color match off existing bumper
Swap the black interior from my 96 SL2
Swap the front suspension from my 96 SL2 since I don't drive it much right now
Swap in the MP3 from my garage into the 96 SL2 and take the welded diff MP2 from the 96 SL2 and convert this to a manual trans
Take the Injen WAI from my 00SC1 and install on this car
Install my extra KYBs/eibachs that used to be on the SC2 (progress/kyb now)
Drive it

She needs some TLC but I think I'm up to the task. I think I already located front suspension and rear disc brakes for it. Just gotta get the eibachs off the rear of the SC2 now and I'll be set to start the overhaul.. gotta do an engine swap on a certain 94 this weekend though so maybe next weekend this one will go under the knife...

Also need to locate black door pieces since the ones in my 96 SL2 are for power windows not manual

I found some matching front door inserts in tan. I put front wheel bearings on both sides and new brakes up front. The rears are fine for now so I'm going to leave them along until they need servicing then I will rear disc swap them.

Wired back in a factory harness and I have some Dual USB/SD/3.5" in deck still with the original speakers as the tape deck just wasn't my taste. In car Pandora FTW also.

Probably this weekend I'm going to swap in the KYB/Eibach combo I have in the garage as the current struts have seen better days.

Also I have my old Konigs on it now as well as the Injen WAI from the SC1 (came with the car)

Damn looks so much better in those rims haha. Keep me updated after the suspension work, I'm following progress on this one :P

So after http://www.sixthsphere.com/smf/index.php?topic=63188.0 I successfully got the KYB/Eibach combo installed and have been driving on it (alignment tomorrow if I have time, it's not terrible as is though..

Haven't made it a priority to swap interiors yet as I just put around town in this one and have comfy seats in the SC1 for longer drives, but intend to sooner than later.
