  • 98 sc1 to sc2 plus performance mods

Over the summer i bought most of the parts I need to do the swap. I just got my head back from the shop, where they did a valve job, mild port and polish and mild port and polish on my intake manifold. I will be updating this thread as i do my swap, which will be soon. Here is what i have so far for the swap:

Decked and mild port and polished head
Painted mild port and polished intake manifold
    OBX header
    New timing kit
    Timing cover
    painted valve cover

    Here are some pics
i will add some pics of the head over the weekend and possibly more

there is one thing i need to buy: better lifters. Anyone have a good set of lifters for sale or know where i can buy them?

rebuild them! no need for new ones.

Grab some pliers and pull the center piece out. From there you'll find a spring and what not. Take the lifter and guts and soak them in paint thinner for about 20 minutes or so. From there one by one rinse and clean them off and put them back together. Once they are clean and back together soak them in oil until they are ready to be installed.

Otherwise the build sounds pretty good. Valve cover looks nice even though it's not my thing.

ya thats ok, thanks for the help, i do have a small question about cams. I was thinking about getting the saturn motorsport mild regrinds, and i dont have much information on them. Would i have to buy high performance valves and springs in order to have them? I kno sometimes with more aggressive cams you do.

nah, with the crower's you can use stock valvetrain. You could also see if anyone has any of the SDA street cams used once you can get into the ForSale section, they'll do about the same performance wise and you can probably get them a lot cheaper.

so I did the head swap over the weekend and everything worked well. I also bought ARP head studs, Apexi Neo and a AEM wideband o2 sensor for my car.

I'd go darker blue and all one color on the valve cover, but I'm glad everything worked out!

You've still got dished pistons in there, right?

That port looks pretty big for an N/A.
