• Starrs new SW2

So.. I happen to come across another first gen waggy...
I purchased it today for $100.00 with a bad tranny
its a 1995 sw2, dark green, light grey interior, auto (tragically lost overdrive)
201837m on the odo, I'll try and snap a few pics tomorow.
I think I'm going to take the drive train outa my blue wagon, and install into the
newer one (its in slightly better shape) on the drive home, I noted a few things.
brakes pulsate like crazy, (left rear was hung up at first) tranny slips when allowed
to go into overdrive, and cassette works (roy orbison??? wtf???)

95 sl2 dd

95 sw2 -> turbo/n20 project (normal bolt ons, forged rods, fidanza, dsm manifold, airesearch turbo, Zex wet dp, msd dis2, and MS

03 l-200 -> the wifes car (I'm not allowed to even have a key)
Damn, that nitrous "octopus" looks intimidating!
A shot of anti-lag FTMFW!!!!
So, its been a month, and I have yet to get pictures of the wagon.. I did however get pictures of
the engine thats going in it.

We have a 02 block and head, heavily ported and polished, ... twin intake cams, forged rods, .20 pistons.
92 talon manifold with an 85 volvo AirResearch hanging off of it via a home made adaptor plate.
going with the 95 dohc manifold, an injector upgrade, probably from the volvo I scavanged the turbo from, and the Dp nitro kit on a 50 shot, from my blue wagon. the msd ignition from my blue wagon, and still flip flopping between MS and safc II, not sure. if I want easy or more beneficial yet... probably going to go thru the headaches of MS though.

Ehh, I know its bright, but I happen to like that color, and since I'm spraying the outer skins in saturn ion, "sublime lime green" it works.

That head is a total fail. Why did you guys decide to run the 3G head?

          Build sounds good though.

Reason for the 3g head... 1. it sets a small limiting factor so I'm not as likely to blow it up.. (I want this one to hold together for a while) 2. It had low mileage ... 3. If I feel I need improvement, I manage a salvage yard... 4. I'm somewhat lazy, and wasted more time machineing an adaptor plate for the turbo instead of finding the right turbo and modifing my manifold to fit a 95-98 head.

              New pics...

As, they say... "Out with the old" here we have a craptastic 1995 215k engine, that runs well enough, and a tranny with no over drive...

As every good turbo saturn should be.. ON THE JACK STANDS..

Super clean engine compartment... black and copper flake texture paint, then 2 coats of ppg clear.

Its small, but it should work.

Volvo rad, 3x the thickness, almost half the width.. and slightly taller.

                Why the green? lol

I love the color and condition of that wagon. Where did that rad come from? and why did you paint the crash beam that hideous green? lmao.

Why does that exhaust manifold look aluminum? I'm going to assume its cast iron painted silver....

                    Re: Starrs new SW2

Wagon is indeed very very clean, purchased from used car lot for $100 with bad tranny, and misc small problems...

I painted the crash bar green cause I found 17 cans of green engine paint in the trunk of a car at the salvage yard I work in.

The radiator came out of a 1985 volvo, turbo car of some sort..

the manifold looks that color in those pics cause it was freshly sandblasted, and painted with vht header paint that was left over from my 94 sw2 with the 92 header.

thanks for input... and for those wondering.. I really dont care if you like it or not.. I'm building it, I have my own reasons for playing with these cars, and if you dont like my work, or what I'm doing.. go take a short walk off a long plank.. (this is directed towards a few pm's and my post about gsi tbi)

                        Re: Starrs new SW2

So, the wagons progress has been ultra slow lately,

I went to go work on it today, got the engine together, oil line ran to the turbo, valve cover on, drilled and tapped hole for second temp sensor, cleaned and painted my tranny, green to match the engine.

Radiator is mounted, It appears to give more room, but not as much as the lil aluminum honda rads...
(the stupid thought hit me the other day, "Wonder if the 2 core copper metro rad would work?" they are about 1' by 1' square and 2 cores thick.) intercooler is temporarily hung with pieces of wire, so I can weld brackets for it. suspensions all together... and then the headache started, the oil pan on the green engine was dented in, around the drain plug, so it needed replaced, I grabbed a pan at work, that was tagged 01 sl.
I went through all the trouble of drilling a hole, and brazeing (sp) in my oil return fitting, did a really really nice job, filled it with water, checking for leaks, (drained it, you smart asses) then I went to put it on.. "FUCK ME" its the wrong pan... so that killed the rest of my day.

On a side note, I bought another project, this ones going to be a valentines present for the girly
I now have a 03 l-200, with slight front end damage, for $1500... needs a hood, headlights, grill, rad/cond/fan and upper tie bar... It appears that the car ran into the back of a lifted pickup, and the rear bumper smashed everything above the front bumper. I'll get pics next weekend. On the plus side, I have most of the parts to fix it, the only thing I'm lacking is a hood, I'll probably just go aftermarket for $169
