  • Pics of my imfamous "Hybrid motor" with the ITB's mocked up

Hey guys I snapped some pics of my motor the other day when we pulled it out of my wrecked car, and we threw the ITB's on there just to mock it up and get some good shots. i still have to rebuild the motor cuz I wanted to freshen it up while it was out of the car plus I want to port and polish the head and I still need to tap the vacuum adapters into the fuel injector holes on the ITB's for my vacuum manifold. but other than that the system is done. give me your opinions! I'm pretty proud of it, it has a red theme goin on with it as all the brackets that were custom made and welded were painted red. I'm thinking about powder coating the high flow fuel rail as well but I haven't decided yet.

    what you guys think?

Looks sick man! What's the final plan for intake? Just tiny filters on each TB? And will there be enough clearance to the firewall to put filters on?

Oh I just remembered anyone have any kind of idea what serpentine belt I should buy now? as I wont have power steering anymore but I still have AC and I have a under drive pulley. I'm at a loss lol I wanted to see if anyone had an idea before I figure out how to measure it using my SL1 as a guide (it has no power steering but AC)

Looks neat. I'm also curious about the amount of room between the firewall too. It looks like a tight fit, especially for engine movement.

Thats still up in the air, we are pretty confident that there's enough clearance but there is some adjustability in the ITB's in case we need to shorten them a tiny bit. We thought about using the 1inch velocity stacks off of the GSXR then we thought about building a manifold that would direct the in coming air about where the old intake pipe used to sit, then we also thought about just getting some 90 degree bends and turning them all away from each other but it would keep it from pulling air right off the firewall. as for filters were thinking about getting those little screen thingys and keeping the ITB's open unless we build the manifold idea then we might have like a huge filter on the end of the plenums but I kinda want to steer away from the one big filter idea cuz that might compromise the awesomeness of the sound they will produce u know?

well were pretty confident that engine movement wont be too much of an issue because I have all torque including the crane motor mounts and were goin to figure out how to reinforce the lower transmission mount as well. We also tho this may not be the best idea considered using a mallet and making alil bit of a pit or a crater looking thing to give us a few extra millimeters of space. Also there's the possibility of changing the crane mount to a custom mount that we can adjust it will take serious calculations but if done correctly we could ever so slightly either rotate the engine forward of have it sit a hair forward. But as I said it would take careful calculations so that we dont compromise the drive train. But we will figure it out its kinda one of those things that HAS to work u know? lol so once we get in there tho it might be trial and error we wont stop until its perfect. Were uber excited to finally see our hard work and planning tangible u know? I'll be video tapping the first engine fire and once the new rebuild is ready to be torn into we will video tape the speedo and get some notches on my belt (street racing) on tape I hope you guys are excited as well. One of the local speed shops is constantly reminding me that they want it dynoed on their dyno because the bottom end is OEM so all I have to do is lay down 200hp and we've shattered what we all thought stock rods could hold. Hopefully this will put our names (as a saturn community) on the maps once people see that we can build just as good of a motor as any other make or model. everyone dig?

This is gonna be interesting. i would probably consider just chopping off the flange off the IM, welding on some smooth 90* runners, out the TB's on top and enclose everything in a transparent "box" with a huge opening for a regular filter. I think that would look sick and work well. Also, you can tune the ITB's for a specific powerband based on how much vacuum is being sucked in my individual cylinders. I know people do it on bikes all the time.

screens under short velocity stacks.....and mirror on the firewall so people can see it!!

                  Looks very good.

IIRC people have had issues trying to run the A/C with no P/S on the DOHC because of the timing chain cover. you will likely need a ribbed pulley too.

Looks titties. Seems like there is just as much room if not more room as the stock intake.
