    Saturn...No

It is a 1989 Lotus Esprit Turbo. 50K miles, Owned by the same man for 10 years (with full history over that time frame). $15.5K

I've wanted on ever since I was in Midschool. After some hard debating on it I decided to make the plunge. For a 20 year old car it is certainly quick (0-60 in 5.1; Top speed ~156), not that is needs to be. I often find myself going under the speed limit just so more people get to see it. It is super fun just to ride around it.

SS brake lines, SS cable lines and really that's about it. If the engine ever lets go I'll look at a Ecotech swap, but who knows if it is worth the effort. They made less than 300 Esprit Turbos and they are britsh so I'll probably have my hands busy sourcing parts and keeping it on the road. Plus I don't need to do anythig to it to make it stand out.

It isn't really a tuner car, it is pretty high strung from the factory given its age (~230HP from 2.2L in 1989). I don't want to push the expensive to repair Lotus engine. 300HP is achieveable, but I really don't care to replace the engine; Never screw with something you don't want to replace.

*I know I put it in the project builds area, but I couldn't find an off topic place to put it.

Yep some of the best, in particular the one used on the Masrati TC. They also did the Corvette LT4 head and worked on the ZR-1 engine. There are rumors that they had a hand in the LLO DOHC head (but I haven't found proof). Lotus hired out its engineering to a lot of different companies in order to pay the bills. Making a small number of cars by hand wasn't really been a huge money maker for them. They are now profitable building cars back them they did stuff to keep the lights on and a couple of cars rolling out.

They were controlled by GM in the late 80s. Then parted in the mid 90s. During that time they worked with a lot of the GM sub companies. They even did suspension tuning for the Izusu Stylus, a car that almost became the Saturn (little known fact). On the plus side GM gave them access to some much needed upgrades. The ignition system and fuel system in my car is taken out of the GM catalog.

Pressures and stresses of all kinds thermal and mechanical loading across the board escalate to extreme levels. I loved that car ever since Roger Moore drove one in For Your Eyes Only.

Don't forget, Lotus used the same steering wheels as 1st gen Saturns too.

So hot. I've always loved Lotus. The older ones *pre 1983* were my favorite. And that is just pure sex.
