• 1998 SC2 daily driver. Pimpin on a budget. lots of pics!

I bought the car in April of 09. It is my first Saturn and this is the first car i have ever gave a damn about. the Contour and Cherokee were not for me. the Saturn has 128k on the frame, 23k on rebuilt motor, and 124k on the transmission.
this is more or less a place for me to keep track of what i've done and spent on the car.

but who cares about all that?

    PICTURES:
    When i bought it: $1475

17" drag 5 spoke wheels and tires with 95% tread left: $300 on craigslist.
I also painted the emblems black

Tinted the tail lights and sidelights with VHT nightshade spray: $12 at summit

PVC intake: $18 for 3" pipe and coupler, $5 for paint, $25 for filter. $48 total

    With box:

Sub and Amp: $50 for alpine type R 10", $0 for American pro 600w amp, $25 for box i built. $25 for wiring. $100

Grounded to the trunk latch. hail yeah.
    ground has been relocated.

New speakers. pioneer front and Dual back: $80

    went through and fixed headliner:
    Before:

    After:

Windows tinted with 35% all around:

Things i still have to do:
    Better sounding/looking muffler
    Get new drivers side fender
    Clean Headlights
    Mount the amp to box.
    Secure the box
    carpet the box

Things i want to do but probably never will:
    91 header/down pipe
    high flow cat
    2.5" pipe
    Get the car buffed
    new springs
    strut bar

My money is looking to funny for that right now. I'm considering just cutting the springs but i'm not to sure if i really want to go that route.
also, its an automatic, so no CAI for me

what does auto vs. man. have to do with anything as far as cai? do the s series not allow for it, because the IONS do.

I wouldnt cut springs, do it right or wait until you can do it right.
the 50 u spent on the current setup could've gone towards a real setup.

The autos have a filter "in the way" but people have found ways around it. I've never tried, I wouldn't mod an auto.

I wasn't saying CAI anyways, I was saying a REAL intake. Like.. just buy a damn WAI on eBay, that PVC looks like ass.

it could have, but would it have performed $30 better?
There is no bolt on CAI because of something blocking the piping route but people have made custom ones.
Thats what i figured on the springs. i was looking at the ebach springs but i'm leaving for college in 3 weeks and my hours at work are going to be cut in half.

argh, you can get away with heating them for like a inch drop, thats not as bad as cutting, and you could have gotten an ebay intake for what it costed for that pvc one. And if you're serious about this at all a 91/92 header and downpipe at a junkyard shouldn't cost too much and if I remember right, they have a plate that just bolts right up.

and I boosted a saturn once. It was stupid and I want to do it again because I like pain and suffering.

I dont do ebay. best i've found for the header/downpipe is $40 for both. not bad at all but i know if i do that, i'm going to do the full exhaust while i'm down there (cat, new piping, resonator, muffler.)

whats the deal on heating them? how do you do that?

+1 to real intake. for the money you spent on making that one you could have picked one up from ebay. and also +1 to lowering it!

                      Looks nice otherwise.

Thanks man. how far should i drop it if i do? i was thinking a 2" drop would be right.

on another note, i was riding around with my dad tonight and another gen2 SC2 with wheels and tires pulled up beside me on the interstate and wanted to race but when i downshifted and hit about 80 my dad just looked at me like i was an idiot and told me i dont need a speeding ticket. he blew by me and i was upset.

STREET RACING IS BAAAAD!!!!!!! That said, DO NOT CUT YOUR SPRINGS!!!!!! lower the car. 2" will look good. Get a real intake. That pvc is not the best around. At all. Sorry. If I remember right, gen 3 had the small intake and exhaust ports? Get a gen 2 head if that is the case. I have a spare 91/92 header if you are interested. Down pipe and all. Also, do you by chance smell a rear disc break swap? Because I have those too. lol. Any way, I'm done busting your balls. lol. Looks good though. I like those rims. And I am sure that tint will look good too. Enjoy your car and take your time. Remember to take your time and do things right with your car. If you get into any major engine mods, get a second dd. Remember this is a Saturn, and you will most likely break it. lol. But most of all, have fun with it.

Oh, and good luck at school too.
