They are certainly funny. A good condition 2JZGTE and swap ETCs will set you back thousands. Plus, to say it's not exactly "Plug and Play" like a 7MGTE, or 1JZ swap, would be making an understatement.

I wouldn't pay too much heed to what your local guys are telling you.

Ok well i found a 2j engine for aparently 1,400$

anyways, how much would it cost me to gte a 7M-GTE, as well ive figured id rather just swap first then waste money getting a dead end 7mge running

$1400? Is that a GE or GTE? Complete and in good shape? Wiring Harness, Mounts, Acc's, Electronics, Etc? I'm doubting that one. It takes ALOT to swap dude. No offense, but you'd be way over your head on that one, even if it was affordable.

7MGTE you can pick up for pocket change. Go digging through all the MW Craiglists (Missouri and Illinois, mainly.) and you'll find one.

Hell, I just found one in Northern IL for like $100. Totally complete, but needing a rebuild.

It really depends on how much searching, shopping and haggling you are willing to do.
