  • Corey's Blown SC2

Now that i am finally doing something worth creating a build thread about, here it is. The car is a 97 Sc2 purple with about 55-60k on a rebuilt motor. The frame has 160k on it.

    Q&A Thread viewtopic.php?f=61&t=32985

    Details....
    Start Date: May 19,2008
    End Date: By TOtD 2008
Budget: Under $1000 for phase one

    Engine....
    -1.9 ll0
    -Cylinders O/B .020"
    -Head decked .010"
-Waiting on confirmation of hyper pistons from the rebuild
    -stock rods
    -stock cams

    Adding with the build....
    -Geo Storm TB
    -91/92 Header
    -Catch can
    -Battery relocation to the trunk

    Parts list....
    -Eaton m62 Blower
    -Custom built plenum
    -Custom mounting brackets
    -2.5" piping
    -33lbs/hr injectors
    -2 Bar map
    -MegaSquirt 1 v2.2 controling fuel
    -Boost gauge
    -Pyrometer
    -Oil Pressure gauge
    -Wideband o2 gauge
    -Custom 3.8", 10 psi pulley

That is what is going to be getting it running and tuned, also the end of phase 1. Once i have it set up and reliable, i will be adding the following which will most likely be after the dragon...

-2.75" Downpipe back exhaust including Cat
-Seting up MS to control fuel and spark
    -FMIC and new piping
    -SSQV
    -Poly Suspension Bushings
    -Prothane dog bones
-All aluminum rad (unless the stock cant keep it cool, then this will be part of phase one)

    thats all for now....

        update...

so parts have been arriving daily.

just ordered the FMIC...ended up going with a 27" x 6" x 3" intercooler with 2.5" inlets and outlets. Also, the Oil Pressure gauge and boost gauge have arrived. I decided to scrap the 2.75" exhaust in favor of a full out 3" due to price and parts availablity. I will be running it catless in the order of Header > Spiral Flow > Glass Pack > over the rear cross member > no muffler > to most likely a nice pacesetter exhaust tip that will blend nicely with the Flat Black paint we are going to paint the car. Paint should most likely be done this weekend and the FMIC should have arrived and be mounted by early next week. once that is done, hpefully, the S/C and all of the mounts and brackets should be here so i can mock it up in the car, measure my clearances so i can order the bends and couplers i am going to need from my buddy mitch (sientin). so yes, i will be running around with an interfooler for a little while but the S/C will be bolted up just not spinning. i say that to make me feel better about being a ricer! while i wait for the bends i should have ordered my megasquirt and be having Joe (daspirate) assemble it. somewhere between now and then ill be recieving my vent pod from Micheal (neons_like_saturns) and be custom fitting my column mounted boost gauge, oil pressure and wideband will be going in the vent pods. i have also decided to scrap the pyrometer at this current time for budget and time reasons, i may add it on later but i dont see exhaust gas temps being a problem. all and all i think things should go well and i still think i should be running boost for the TOtD 08. if not, i will be the biggest ricer there with and interfooler and non spinning blower in the car

That is awesome. I am still way behind on collecting all of my parts so unfortunately I will not be boosting at this TOTD with you. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Need pics of it all.

            update

i h ave keep this short cause my hand is killing me...so due to an unsecure glass cabinet in my apartment, i have 6 stitches in my hand for a lasceration that went all the way to the bone between my right pinky and ring finger. unfortunately my whole right hand is rendered immobile and i was told no use of the hand. i was specifically told i was not allowed to work on my car and was suggested i dont even drive it because its a 5 spd.

needless to say...my car will for sure not be boosted by the dragon but will be wearing its new, currently half done, flat black paint job, interfooler and a non functioning s/c due to lack of fuel control since ill be paying medical bills now....but ill still be there!!

              Re: Corey's Blown SC2

How come you are having a pulley made for it? IIRC the stock 3.35 from the IRL only puts out 12.5#s. Maybe Im wrong.

Basically I guess Im asking why are you going to spend extra money to have a pulley made instead of running the extra 2.5 lbs....no hate just curious.

                Re: Corey's Blown SC2

well the pulley is already built and i bought it already on the blower. it was built by nitrofumesrule. and honestly, i will be happier with that because i would like to be <9 psi after boost lost by the intercooler. i will eventually up the boost, but this first attempt is on a stock build on my daily driver. i would most definately love to experiment with 15 - 20 psi if obtainable before i drop the s/c and go turbo.

sounds good. I forgot all about nitro until you mentioned his name.
