  • fixing up the DD

As some of you know, in January I picked up The Rob's old 98 sl2 as my new daily driver car.
when I got it, it drove fine, but had a few things missing (gas cap missing, half the console sawed off with a steak knife, etc) and the paint was lacking that certain luster. it was fucking filthy. LOL.
I promised Rob that I would be taking great care of it, and so begins the restoration of a forgotten legend.

Here are a few before pics.

      Re: fixing up the DD

Saturday I pulled a few panels off the turd, and have started prep for paint.
I found a few problems....I have to replace the roof panel and the hood. Looks like someone had been standing on, or walking across, the top of the car. Too many creases and dents to fix. Many little scratches and holes to fill in. no big deal.

BTW - if you need some body panels, I recommend you PM autoteam, one of the site sponsors here. I got a good deal on a replacement hood from them.

      progress as of today......

I am going to be keeping an eye on this one... looking foward to the results (if this turns out as immaculate as the Monstah). Looks like you'll have your work cut out for you! Going OEM plum again?

the car in the pics belongs to someone (nice pics, I hope you don't mind that I used them for a reference)

I was doing a PDI on one when deciding on the color of the turd.

found a cracked door panel, and had a few holes/nicks in the bumper covers. Doren from the body shop filled them in, sanded them down a little. Getting a few things prepped.
