  • 94 SC2 - turbo project: Officially Boosted

    (1994) (Saturn) (SC2) -----------------------------------------------

Start Goal: Get it up and running at ~7 PSI
End Goal: Run 12's, break 350whp and beat down STI's

    Start Date: Spring 2008
    Planned End Date: ?

Picked this thing up for $500 off my buddy. Right now it has a loud knock in the motor, which is still unknown. Overall shape is pretty good, not too much rust. Has a pacesetter exhaust and an intake and some gay aftermarket 15" wheels which will be replaced by stock 94 teardrops. This car will stay stock on the outside except for maybe some clear side markers. It's going to be a total sleeper. I already have some H&R springs on KYB's sitting in my garage waiting to be put on. If it gets warm enough in a few weeks i'll pull a motor from the JY just to put in and get it running.

Exterior: Stock with 95-96 front bumper, lowered ~1"

Interior: stock with some gauges and 96SL2 seats, partially gutted, battery in trunk

Engine: 2.2l LLO (89mm stroke and bore)
    Golden Eagle block (baller)
    8.7 to 1 CP pistons
    Crower rods
    new crank
    acl custom bearings
    SDA race port job
    ian turbo cams
full ferrea valvetrain w/ over sized valves
    ian intake manifold
    fidanza flywheel
    act clutch 6 puck
    adjustable cam gears
    titan head gasket
    arp head bolts
    2000+ lower girdle
    new oil pump,pick up tube
new timing chain and guides and tensioner
    new timing chain cover
    new lifters
    new oil pan
balanced to 12,000 rpm (this isn't a streetbike?)

Full PimpedSC2 engine mounts (V1 TAM, V2 Dogbones)

    Suspension: Progress springs on KYB's.
    Full poly bushings
SPS 17.5mm 4 way adjustable rear sway bar
Stock 94 Teardrops w/ Azenis's or similar tires
Stock 15" steelies for drag radials.

Re: 94 SC2 - Future turbo street terror

well, plans have changed. I'm going turbo instead of S/C. I got a kit for a great deal and couldn't pass it up. i started tearing into the car last week. got the AC system cleaned out as well as some of the other various crap from the engine bay i won't be needing. Also cut open the front bumper for some better air flow.

I should have a turbo kit for the car in about two weeks and should have the car running but not boosted in hopefully three weeks. I still need to go out and find a block. New plan is to go with a forged bottom end right off the bat. Might as well do it right the first time. I'll be running a stock head till i can grab a new one to do a full port job on and pick up some of Ian's chopstix.

List of parts for the kit that i'm buying off of koolash_45 and a pic of the kit from turbosc2

t3/t4 .57 trim external wastegate *no shaft play*
    tial 38 mm wastgate
split second additional injector controller (up to 4 injectors)
catch can w/lines and hollowed out pcv valve
knockoff greddy type-rs blow off valve w/flange
log style turbo manifold *5 bolt*
Precision 350 HP core intercooler with mounts
    downpipe with dump
    SDA high flow cat
    drillled oil pan
all intercooler piping *2 injector bungs welded in w/injectors*
    all oil feed/drain lines
    2 slim fams

      Awesome!

Don't forget to take your time, do everything right. Good luck!

      A few things;
      1. Don't forget to save a little extra for a full exhaust. Open DP gets annoying after a while!
      2. Is your battery relocated already? If not, might as well get that out of the way and working before the kit gets there.
      3. Does the kit come with a vacuum block? They make things SO MUCH easier!
      4. Don't forget the misc little things. One thing I already see is the coolant line. I can only assume it wasn't sent with the kit, so make sure to grab an adjustable one.

Re: 94 SC2 - Future turbo street terror

thanks guys for the advice. I have already pulled out the battery, now just have to move it to the trunk. It does look like i'll have to move the coolant line, no biggy. It does not come with a vaccum block so far that i'm aware so i'll have to pick one up. Also the car has a pacesetter exhaust now so that will do for a while. I may cut it off before the axle and just do a turn down tip

Also on the list to buy:
          ACT 6 puck
          Forged rods/pistons
          034 IEC
          ARP head bolts
          Copper head gasket
          few misc guages

really that's all i need, lol.

Ehhh, either run the pacesetter exhaust all the way or not at all. Under car dump is lame (unless you put a muffler before the dump). Side exit might not be terrible, but iirc pacesetter is like 2.25" isn't it?

That's correct. There is a resonator in there, so it wouldn't be just straight pipe. I'd probably chop it out and put something better in there though like a 24" glass pack. I don't know though, i think i'd rather just save up for a full 3" turbo back than put money into the current set up. I want to chop it off since i heard the mufflers flow like crap. I figure a little less restriction couldn't be too bad.

Yeah my full 3" came to about $400-500 (stainless cat & resonator, mild steel piping, and welding charges).

yeh, that's not too bad i suppose. Pretty much what i expected. I'll probably just stick to side exit when i get it up and running.
