• RotorNutFD3S' 1995 Turbo Miata

1995 Mazda Miata (aka Eunos Roadster) with R-Package. R-packages have no a/c and no p/s from the factory. Also have thicker sway bars, Bilstein struts and better springs. Basically made for the track with mostly comfortable streetability.

In any case, I got this car in February after I lost my '02 SL to a negligent driver, and it already had a lot of goodies. However, after having to deal with a lot of maintenance difficulties, I tore most everything down and built it back up, making sure that nothing was overlooked. I'm glad I did too, it let me see everything that was done, and now I know where everything is.

Here is a complete rundown (as best as I can recall anyway) of what is modified on the car:

    Engine Mods:

    Pioneer AVH-P6600DVD Head Unit
    Alpine Type-S 6.5" Door Speakers
    Clearwater Tweeters
    Rockford Fosgate 3.5" Headrest Speakers

My near future plans at the moment are to get the manifold and turbine housing ceramic coated. Also, I'm either going to be doing some fiberglass bodywork and fixing the small cracking in the fender flares, or I will be going with a widebody kit. The car is a great daily driver, and I'd like to not go crazy with it yet until I have another vehicle to fall back on.

Long-term plans (the crazy ones) include finishing the build on another block, forged build of course, along with a 1999 Miata head, as they flow better, don't require porting or polishing, and seem to respond even better to forced induction. A larger turbo will be utilized, I haven't decided on which yet, but it will be based on what the engine will be capable of. Basically, I want 450-500whp that's done well enough to be a daily driver, while breaking 11s or less on the track. There are a a few out there now, I'd love to follow in their steps.

My PhotoBucket account is pretty well organized into folders and subfolders, but feel free to look around.

This idea has been scrapped. Too expensive to justify and I think it'd get abused since my car is a daily driver.

This is the widebody kit I've had my eye on. I'd love some feedback, in the Q&A section of course. The nice thing about posting on 6S is that most of you aren't way too familiar with the Miata's various looks, however, on my normal Miata forums, everyone would be saying "Get it!" just because. I think I'll get more honest feedback outside the Miata circle. lol
Anyway, this sucker is 5-pieces (4 widebody flares and a front bumper), would happily accept 15x10 with 275s in the rear, but runs $1200 from the manufacturer. I see them for less all the time, but around $1k usually. Oh, and I definitely would not be molding anything in.

Sorry for small pics, it's all that shown on the website, and the gallery is password protected. FTL

      Update time!

OK, so as of Monday, my Hard Dog Hard Core Hard Top Double Diagonal with Harness Bar (whew, that's a mouthful!) is on the way since Flyin' Miata is offering free shipping on all Hard Dog bars.

As of today a brand new Carbing Soft Top Quick Release Kit is on the way along with a set of Frame Rails all from Flyin Miata. When the frame rails get here, I'll be installing them with the butterfly brace I've had sitting against the wall in my room forever.

I went to R-Speed (Miata/Mini tuning shop that some friends run) today and picked up a Cobalt 3-point strut tower brace, some stock window cranks to lose the chrome ones that were bought originally from Metro Motorsports, and the defroster fuse block and relay so I could have defrost on my hardtop.

It's been a busy and expensive week.

Finally installed the new downpipe Saturday, this is about the best pic for now.

Full boost is right there, and the car is definitely pulling stronger now over the previous DP. Had some boost issues with it after install, but it seems to have fixed itself. Only problem I have now is that the WBo2 bungs are on the lower half of the pipe instead of the upper half, but I'm working with the vendor now to get that resolved, and they are being great about it!

Found out that my boost issues mentioned in the post above were caused by the wastegate flapper getting stuck on the divider inside the collector. So the whole downpipe is getting replaced. I'm upset about that to say the least.

Anyway, do you ever have one of those things about your car that is so small and minute that it shouldn't matter, but you see it, and want to do something about it? Well, my engine bay eyesore has been the hard coolant tube that runs right near the exhaust manifold. Looks like this:

I've hated it. Well, I ran across someone selling this powdercoated tube:

So I bought it and I installed it.

Much cleaner. Now on to find the next thing. lol

              Thanks for the compliment!
Anyway, when your garage is this big:

the missing paint is hard to keep up with.

                Re: RotorNutFD3S' 1995 Turbo Miata

So not really any news but one of my friend's stole my digital and took pictures and videos of me driving. There is only one video that came out somewhat clear, but all you can hear is the loud ass S2000 he's in and I don't think it was that great of a video.

Evidently this is what I look like when I'm racing and passing someone who I don't know is taking my picture.

                And about 1 second later...

                And the video:

                  Re: RotorNutFD3S' 1995 Turbo Miata

Now I know why shops charge so much to install these things! It's very time consuming, and not exactly the easiest thing to do. But it's not extremely difficult either.

Here's some of the pictures I took along the way. I wasn't going for quality or clarity, just wanted to document the process.

Ok... So this has to go in there somehow.

Well, I'll just rip everything out behind the seats except the soft top.

Cut some metal away, shimmy the bar past some wiring harnesses, and hey, it fits!

There was a lot of time between the last shots and this one:

                  Definitely like this much better!

                      Re: RotorNutFD3S' 1995 Turbo Miata

OK, so since I'm going to the Dragon this year, I have to get the car in as tip-top shape as possible, so I figured I'd share what I'm about to have to do...

Timing belt and water pump have to be changed, so doing that along with the thermostat and related accessories. Sounds so easy... lol

Installing an OEM undertray because my car was missing it when I bought it. This helps keep temps down on long cruises, so a very good thing for this venture.

Install new AEM UEGO because my driveshaft ate the wiring harness on my old one and it all got fried... oops. Done - 7/2/08

Install 12" Slim Fans. Going from one stock 1400 CFM fan to 2 3200 CFM slim fans. Yay for cooling!

Send off my 550cc injectors to Injector-Rehab to get cleaned and flow-tested.

Order and install parts from Jeg's and ATPTurbo to convert my turbo coolant lines to braided steel lines. This is a must since the fiber lines start seeping after 4-5 months and I'm pretty much tired of that.

                      Order and install turbo blanket.

Maybe install redesigned downpipe, if it gets here in time and I have time to do it.

May trim my convertible top boot so that it fits around my rollbar, but we'll see. Just gives a clean appearance. Done - 7/3/08

Do basic service: Oil Change, Tire Rotate, New Fuel Filter, and New Spark Plugs.

I've seen that blue one before (or one just fucking like it) in Marietta once. I was actually impressed for a min....then the fucktard in the minivan in front of me wanted to stop in the middle of 41 for no reason. your car is nice dude, would love to see it in person (if everything goes right I will at the dragon....maybe on the way up depending on your route, lol).

That would be him. He lives up that way. It's a very neat and retro. Has a lot of the older parts from Japan that not many people can get their hands on.

doesn't he have an "Eanos" badge on it (as in eanos roadster, what he miata is/was in other countries)? that car was crazy awesome, I was driving down 41 and he came up behind me and I kept looking in the mirror like, "WTF? is that what I think it is?" then he got up next to me and started to pass me (thats when I saw the back) and then the fuckhead in the minivan did his part if fucking up my joy, lol. what part of the "greater Atlanta area" are you in? I'm not that far from ATL honestly (cartersville/adairsville area).
