• Rudy blew up his tranny 2007 edition

So I blew up my tranny (popped a tig welded diff pin), so here's my new build up.

Got another MP3, tore it down, got the diff pin welded.

Installing an OEM 4-2-1 header, painted it with Duplicolour High Temp paint with Ceramic (1200f rating).
Modding the collector to dump into a 2.5" diameter, 10" long flex section flex pipe.

There will be another foot or so of 2.5" pipe, which will then dump into a large case, resonated, Magnaflow high flow cat.

The honeycomb is right at the front of the muffler, it ends, and then there's a resonator attached to the outlet, such that there's about an inch gap from the honeycomb to the tip of the resonator. This should keep noise down.

And here's what the header+downpipe+collector look like:

The rest of the exhaust is a 3" crush bent setup with a 3" in/out Thrush Chambered muffler (clone of a Flowmaster 40 series).

Now since I have the engine out, I'm doing the 2 intake cam mod

I also needed a drivers side tie-rod end, and I swapped two newer spindles that I had laying around: my passengers side was loose enough to cause a vibration at high speeds and general looseness in the steering wheel.

Here's everything done!

Header paint didn't stick, could have been the grease left on the header, even though I did hit it with brake cleaner.

We got everything in, but I got 3 problems.

First one is I suddently developed a leak at the fuel filter line to fuel rail fitting... from what I can see, there's 2 plastic spacer and a O-ring, but the ring is kinda warped, so I guess it's not sealing correctly.

Secondly, the valve cover gasket obviously wasn't applied properly because it's leaking.

And finally, we installed the exhaust cam one tooth advanced of TDC instead of one tooth retarded. Hurray for 18 degrees advance on the exhaust cam.
It's not good for performance.
It's not good for anyone.

I got lots o pics, I just haven't had the time to up them... and I still gotta finish my car today, and work on my dads. Hurray for me.

So I finally got the wagon.

Took it for a boot around the 'hood, and realized that the shift cable clips @ the tranny are quite important...

And I have an issue: the car doesn't pull hard at all, and it idles rough. The 2 intake cam mod isn't supposed to cause a rough idle at all, so I'm thinking that maybe the o2 sensor that is who knows how old that came with the header is bad. I'll pull codes tommorrow.

And lemme just say, that having tight front bearings as opposed to loose one, and new control arms with poly busings makes a heck of a difference. The steering is nice and tight.

Still working on the pics, sorry guys
The car is running a lot better, but not 100% yet. Gotta track down a vacuum leak, I think I know where it is.

Here's the origianl link to the two ( 2 ) intake cam mod from plastikracing:
