  • irishcarbomb's build

well it's finally time for me to start my build up...i'll have plenty of pics to come, just started the SOHC to DOHC swap today. My noob-ness prevailed as i tried to remove the engine only, leaving the tranny in the car. Now i'm left having to pull it anyway cuz i slid it too far and now the crank pulley bolt is hitting the frame. also have to get a new pcm since the one i got for the DOHC is a 98 and didnt realize the plugs are different, so i'll be running a 2000 pcm on a 99 engine.

i plan on driving the car for a few days to make sure there is nothing wrong with the DOHC, then pull it back out to work on.

    Parts ordered so far:
Manifold, downpipe, and wastegate tube from Alpha
    TiAl 38mm wastegate
    MS2 v3
    t3/t4e 60trim compressor, .48a/r stage three turbine
    intercooler
    boost/oil pressure guage/wbo2

i would probably drive it for more like a couple weeks before you pull it again. just my thoughts.

Jeremy why do you loathe the .48 turbine? he did say stage III?!

        Goodluck.

              SOHC = out forever!

i'll be cleaning out the engine bay in the next few days while i'm waiting for my PCM from 6th planet.

              Goodbye SOHC

wow hows that for some progress, nice!

So does the AC go through the garage door...otherwise its just dumping heat into the garage as well as cooling it? Im hoping to grab a cheap eng. stand for the winter and start tearing down my DOHC...

                Keep up the good work.

alternator, starter, idler pulley, water pump,, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, both manifolds removed from single cam.

the reason i took the pump/thermostat from the single cam

twin cam ready to get dropped in minus flywheel, clutch, and starter.
