  • My project car

So for the last month or so I have been wondering what to do with this car I picked up. I had initially planned on selling it off to make a buck but honestly I like the car to much and someone put a ton of work into this. The car is a 96 sc2 mp3 trans with a phantom grip. It has a nos kit installed with a 50 shot. I think the kit was installed and never used, all the connections leak and the bottle has only been filled once (per the old owner of the car). The car was stored most of its life and shows no signs of rust or wear anywhere. So the plan now is forged internals and a switch to a dp setup with a progressive controller to tap out at a 200 shot. I have ran nitrous a bit in the past but never to this extent. This is going to be a slow build but it needs to start somewhere. Here's the car.

The first thing on my to do list is get the hood scoop feathered back into the hood. The previous owner had used a bumper adhesive to glue the scoop on and feathered it out with bondo, before having the car painted a custom color. It probably looked fine until the hood got slammed once and it cracked. I pulled the scoop off cleaned it up and used urethane to get it back on. Its not going anywhere now, but it needs to be feathered out cleaned up and painted. Now for the next problem, whats the paint code. The previous owner painted it and never wrote down the paint code. He did tell me it was a Ford color and I think the painter at my work can use a camera to match the color up nicely. I will also have the headlight doors blended to get the color as nice as possible. Heres the progress on the scoop.

I remember that. IIRC, it was Orange and Black, and the guy joked about it being a jack-o-lantern or some shit. But that was on SaturnFags, or PR? Was a long time ago though.

OP: Glad to see you aren't flipping this one. I used to love this car.

Lol I never thought I'd see a cowl hood on a Saturn... But once it gets feathered in I think it'll look sweet.... Subscribed for sure...

                  Re: My project car

I am thinking about possibly cutting the underside of the hood to make this a true cowl hood. I don't know if there will be enough structural rigidity like that. Ill need to cut the bracing apart and it mite make the hood really flimsy. It would be neat to have that actually do something rather than have it just for looks.

That pointer in the first pic is smarter than most of the kids who just graduated h/s this year. We also have a weimaraner that is on the other hand dumb as a bag of rocks, but is a great dog.

Why not consider just cutting sections of sheet metal out and leave the bracing in place? It may not be as effective but would still be more functional than it is now lol. I really like this car, BTW.
