  • MFactory Helical Diff buy-in (edit: 11/23)

    Feeler thread: http://www.sixthsphere.com/smf/index.php?topic=62838.0

Guys here is the buy in thread. Post up with the following information

    Name: First Last
    Are you in: Yes/Maybe*
    Email address: [email protected]

All urgent/official notices will be sent via email as well as posted in this thread. I don't expect everyone in the buy-in to check this thread every day.
*Yes = I am in and I have the money for the initial deposit Maybe = I need to save money, pawn my star trek dvds, whore myself out, etc.

    Hello Travis,

thank you for your email. Yes, we would very much like to help you out, as we've done a similar thing for the Mazda guys.

normally, our minimum order requirement is 10pcs @ $650/pc including free shipping (note that the price "may" change, depending on the oem sample we receive). Previously, our customers set this up as a group buy, and I would join in on the forum to help answer any technical questions.

please let me know if you require further information.

    Stephen
    Hello Travis,

I forgot to mention, how we work the group buy is:

    1) We receive the oem sample and take our measurements. From this, we can work out the confirmed cost
    2) We receive at minimum 10 x 50% Deposits
    3) We will then manufacture 1pc first, which we'll send to you for testing
    4) Once testing is complete and you've given the go ahead for production, we will start manufacturing the rest of the units
    5) Once the units are ready to ship, we will start asking for the remainder 50%

Payments would be via PayPal, as that is quickest/easiest.

For an idea of how the group buy worked previously, you can view our Mazda Protege Group Buy (over 50 people in the group buy): http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38426

    Thanks,

    Stephen
    Update:

Travis: Could you post this up on the 1st page please

Group Buy Price: $650 inc FREE Shipping, Ring Gear Bolts and Diff Bearings
Terms: We need MINIMUM 10 deposits before we start production on the prototype. I will let you guys decide between you who would be the best candidate for testing (and to post up results)

Stage 1: 10 x 50% deposits ($325) to our PayPal Account (please PM me for the details). Minimum is 10 deposits, but more is perfectly acceptable
Stage 2: Prototype production begins, takes approx. 1-2 months. We will then ship this to the designated tester for scrutiny. Includes unlimited revisions until said unit can be changed to production status. This will be the testers final unit, they won't get a replacement, as it's basically the same thing (unless the changes are really significant). We will replace bolts/bearings though if these are too worn to be reused. Testers remaining 50% is due.
Stage 3: Final production begins, takes approx. 1-2 months.
Stage 4: Upon completion, the remaining 50% is due. We don't require all remaining totals to be paid at the same time though, we will ship your order out as soon as we receive your funds
Stage 5: You receive and enjoy your extra traction. Supplied small decals somewhere on your car is appreciated, but not mandatory

We will continue to accept deposits up until the end of Stage 2. Once final production starts (Stage 3), the following will apply:

MSRP: $699.95 + Shipping ($30 within continental US). Includes Ring Gear Bolts. Diff Bearings are not included, but we can offer these at $49.95/pair.

These will be offered as an "off-the-shelf part" after this point. If you know you are going to get one of these, it is to your benefit to enter the group buy, as you will be saving around $130.
The following people have paid their deposits:

    hein
    ArghIGiveUp
    greensteeldragon
    andrew88
    DokiZen6x
    ProDarwin

If you have sent a deposit, please post in this thread so I can update the list.
If you have not sent a deposit and need payment info, please PM me (with your email address) or email me and I will send all of the info your way.

Not to already screw the format up, but I felt this was worth posting.

If it comes down to being just under the 10 deposits needed, I will buy one and resell it later most likely. These will be available after the buy in correct? Same price?

Do we have a set price yet? I think we need a for sure price. I mean, as long as it's close to that it should be all good. I would just hate to say yes/maybe and find out it's going to be close to $1,000.

                  My thoughts on this:

When posting interest in this thread, assume the price of $650 is correct. I'll get a diff to Stephen ASAP and he can give us a more accurate estimated cost. Once we have this number, people will be given the opportunity to back out. Hopefully there is no change. After this point we will be sending in deposits/getting the prototype made. No turning back then.

                          Hey guys,

I've given the shipping details to Travis, so just need to wait to get the oem differential in our hands and we can start taking our measurements. I've also asked for a matching ring gear, so that we can make some custom bolts for this as well (will be supplied free of charge with the group buy).

One thing I forgot to ask, does anyone know the dimensions (and non-oem part number if possible) of the differential bearings?

Any questions, please feel free to ask!

Question, the price doesn't get cheaper with more people does it? I assume not because the Mazda guys had 50 people but it looks like the price stayed the same. Just wanted to know for my financial benefit.
