  • Name that sound....

Before I throw parts at it, any idea on what exactly is making this sound. Its very audible at idle, and you can somewhat hear it on cruise (obviously harder to hear b/c of road noise)

Kinda sounds like its coming from the accessories area.. but sometimes I swear its coming from the valve cover.. weird.

I replaced the idler/tensioner with new ones because I had extra ones lying around.. and that didnt fix the noise.

Suggestions? 96 sc1 with teh sohc powa

I'd guess timing chain, or something connected to it....

Sounds like a bad timing chain guide.

That sounds EXACTLY like my car did when one of the timing chain guides bit it.

took the belt off, no noise. Checked the water pump.. OMG liek 1/4" of shaft play.

Fucking advance auto water pump.. has a whole 10,000 miles on it too.
