  • Retarded Wipers

so I was cruising down the highway yesterday and my windshield was a little dusty so I hit the fluid. Then my wipers came on, but they went realllly slow and only came up about a third of the windshield before they stopped. After that if I tried moving them on any setting, they would just twitch up a little bit, but not really move. When I got home, I was able to get them out of the way by putting them on the top setting, and then tugging them a bit and they went the rest of the way up, and then back down. I hadn't modified anything since I last used the wipers, so I'm kinda lost as to what's causing this. The fuse is just fine. The lights don't really dim when I turn the wipers on, so the car isn't struggling for power, and everything else is working fine electrically. Maybe the motor just took a shit?

Sounds like it, or the gear box took a crap on you. Regardless you probably need a new wiper motor.

Dumb Fact: My wife just let me know that it was a woman who invented windshield wipers.

weird. when i took it all out, it was the drive-shaft mechanism thing that was seized up, the motor works just fine. I figure I use them often enough that it wouldn't just all of a sudden freeze. Anyone know a store where I can get one ? every place I have called says dealership or jy, but the dealer wants $150 for a new one, and it's really windy and snowy at the moment.
