    is the smoke black? meaning its running extremely rich. is your check engine light on ? year/model?

    i'll be the first one to say it.

    ECTS

    check your engine coolant temperature sensor. if it has a plastic tip it is probably cracked and not reading right, therefore your engine is running extremely rich and flooding at startup.

          white smoke is usually coolant leak isn't it?

            start off by checking the coolant sensor, if its never been replaced, there s a good chance it could be bad

              yes, usually (coolant/water in the exhaust).

                where are you located at? maybe we can get someone to take a look at what's going on for you, kind of hard to diagnose things at times.

                it's somewhat normal to have white/grey smoke when starting cold from humidity in the exhaust system.

                I'd say ECTS and maybe TPS, but still hard to say. once it's running does it idle alright or is it all over the place? maybe the Crank Position Sensor too.

                  Check your coolant level is it low? White smoke usually means coolant getting into your cylinders somehow, blueish/black is oil burning. You may have a bad coolant sensor as stated above, quite possibly may even have a small break in your head gasket, or worse yet a warped head. If all else fails I used some Bars stop leak to cure my small head gasket problem till I can get my rebuilt motor into the car.

                    let see first try ects.

                    if there's oil in coolant or whatever then head gasket.

                      Hey dude, when you disconect the conector look real carefully for any corrosion on the terminal ends. If so replace it along with the cts. This sensor is the most critical sensor on the engine.

                        Far from true, but it is the most common failure and it will have a big effect on the way the car runs.

                          +1, the car will run with out a coolant sensor, the CPS is prolly the most critical sensor on the engine
