I have a 95 SC1 with a 94 DOHC motor in it. When I was driving it started running like crap and it shut off on me. Well I didnt think anything of it and it fired right back up running strong. The next day I started to drive around and this time it ran even worse and the SES light came on. I stopped at the gas station and No I didnt get a chance to read the code but I shut her off and once again she fired right back up and running like nothing happened and no SES code. Any ideas?

Try blocking the egr, but with the 94, I dought that's the probelm
Try pulling codes anyway. Some times there is a code present, but the light won't come on.
Does ti seem to be consistant with dieing? Like it will run for 15 minutes after a cold start then start acting wierd?-6S Resident Mechanical Forensics member #001.

I will try and wait to see if I can ride around for a while and the SES light comes onSteven

There might be a code present, but the SES is not coming on...some codes, depending on what thet are, will flash the light and turn off, stay on, or might even not iliminate. Just check and see.
I had an o2 sensor go out that would just make it crap out, but it looked of on a scan tool and on the gauge. Try disconnecting it. If it keeps runing, it will be in limp mode, but won't stall, then that is your problem.
Other possiblities would be a crank position sensor. If the ICM was bad, it just wouldn't run ever again...the CPS's will start to act up sometimes and others just crap out...its either way with those.-6S Resident Mechanical Forensics member #001.

sounds you got a loose ground somewhere, i had simular issues, and it en ded up being a loose ground wires, if your bored duck around behind the intake manfiold and look at misc wires around the CPS and evap noid, and that area there,
i remember if i reset the computer it ran perfect for 30-40km then it craped out again.2004 Ion Redline Blue sunroof, advance audio, nexen rubber more to come..

This problem is driving me crazy! When it gets ready to shut off it jerks a little then when I down shift it shuts off seems like when I push the clutch in it dies on me. Well it starting to get a little worse shut off on me twice today. When I went to start her up the first time no problem the second time it fired up then slowly died started her up again and had to giver her some gas to fire up strong. I'm guessing maybe fuel pump or injector issues? It's crazy though because some days it does it and some days it doesnt thats whats pointing me into a sensor problem some where? Also my valver cover is leaking on the left side close to the TC cover is there an important sensor around there that the oil could be messing up? Also sounds like something is rattling around the valve cover/TC cover, Im guessing the chain might be on its way out? At this point im open to anything very close into taking all the parts off and trading her in while she still runs somewhat decentSteven

hmmmm. Tensioner may be taking a shit, which is not turning the alternator. That would explain the noise, and the slow death while it runs.
Check on that.
Could also be a carbon flake getting caught in the EGR valve. That would cause crappy running conditions.
Check that too.LSJ powered 1998 Chevy S-10 turbo
