  • Instrument panel bulbs

Two bulbs burnt out in my 01 SC2 instrument panel. I look online and it says the bulb is a 161.... yeah no way in hell lol.

Has anyone repalced these bulbs? The are the tiny ones that are already suldered into a blue base that just twists into place. No stores around me had ever seen one before...awesome.

Vinny said someone knew about an LED relacement or something? I don't even care about that, I just need replacement bulbs.

No NAPA near me, and I wanted to avoid paying dealer pricing on them if possible. Was also interested in the LED replacements I heard about.

I think Billy (Supracharged) was talkin about that or it was in one of his threads regarding the guage swaps from the vue, etc...

For OEM, I hit the yard Justin and just load up on them lol.

There is a write up in the DIY section on the dlue led things.

and there is a NAPA on Gratiot between 12 and 13 I think. I'll go check on google though.

I might have some extras around cause I took some out when I installed my glow gauges. I'll have to check when I get home.

I just checked and the NAPA is on Gratiot between untica and 12.

Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.

if you lost one or 2 of the bulbs chances are the circuit is fried. I had changed mine and it fudged the board up. so what I did was get some LED's at the local RZ and just glued them into the holes.

Somebody said that you can actually remove the bulbs from the sockets and then solder the LED's in the existing spots, then re-install the new bulb back into the cluster.

I can't remember who it was though.

If justin would just go back to my original post and click the link all the information is in there, and it has a step by step guide on how to do it.

Including a link to the exact website vinny has mentioned above.

problem is.. our 01 cluster uses a different bulb. I odered 3 times from that website(love their products) and still didn't get it right.Mine also was fried so soldering to the original spot was imposible, I only had one operating point and that is the highlighted.

As far as tap in point I used the dome/theatre light mounting point where the circuit/type wire comes out. That is where all the wires comefrom.

sorry the pic sucks, I never saved it on my CPU and the file is tiny, once my new order from superbrightleds gets in I will pull it all apart again and clean it up some. I hope I was a little help fo ryou.

which 4? tell me you got the 5way. I just bought those in white to get the original color back (the blue bulbs make it so you can't see the red area after 6000rpm's). I think that with blue theatre would look awesome.
