  • stupid saturn strikes again help

    any got a clue why my saturn is a pos

    i swapped egr's last night and cleared the code with a scantool, start it up move it out of the way of the other car, (was moving then around ) then shut off the 97 walked to the 00 start it up and move it out of the way then i go to start the 97 it starts but idles at like 500-900rpms and stupid ruff then about 5 seconds later it dies.

    try to start it up no go..

    though ok maybe i dained the battery somehow. whipped out my volt meter nada.. saying i got 12.5volts in the battery, i checked the battery grounds they seemed fine and tight, it turns over but doenst catch, even when i tried to jump it with another car or when i tried to mannually start it in the drive way good old clutch in in gear roll back with ignition on, etc.. nothing..

    i am gonna check fuel pressure and gonna see if i flooded it somehow gonna pull the plugs and look and gonna clear the camber after i pull the fuel pump fuse as well as look if any fuses blew..

    fucking saturns... anyone esle good any good ideas?

    Check to make sure you didnt knock an wires loose while installing the EGR???

      yeah, check the fuel pressure. 97's have a fuel pump issue.

        butt would it shit out on me all of a sudden? never had a failed fuel pump my old homo 97 sl1 just was a pain in the ass at starting if i didnt let the system prime.

          alrighty i am gonna keep you in the loop

          battery has 12.6 volts,
          fuel is coming to the engine cause i was pissing rounad witht efuel line that attachs to the fuel rail i got drenched well,
          checked and cleanned all the plugs and it started then died shorty after
          car almost starts when the fuel pump fuse is pulled, then after a couple more try's it stops

          plugs and wires , coils and coil pack is all new within a month or so.

          gonna look at the wires around the alternator and remove the egr and re install it see what happens, or see if anything is in the way.

          i dont have a fuel gauge until tomorrow to test the pressure.. but i think its within spec probally..

          anyone got any good ideas???

          p.s. have to be able to start it to drive it off a cliff.

            did you check your PCM fuse? This may be way off, but its worth a try.

              i checked all the fuses that wree fuel related and such.

              i also just checked the coil packs and the DIS module both check out.

              yah i'll check the pcm fuse for shits and giggles.

                well i almost got it started.. i put my foot on the gas petal and tried to start it it would catch but wouldnt stay turned on..

                i checked the pcm fuse and there fine.

                i replaced the iat sensor a week or so a go i am gonna put the old back in see if it does anything as well as replace the TPS i have laying around.

                  its flooding I bet. The key is it almost starts when you pull the fuel pump relay. Did you ef with the ECT sensor any chance? take that egr off and try to start the car then, it ain't gonna be pretty, but it might just work [img]{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif[/img]

                    nope the ECTS havent touched that in ages.. i looked at the wires to make sure they were honkey doory. and they seemed fine.

                    i replaced the egr and checked the TPS and the idle air controller. and its fine.

                    it still doenst start.. its 2 cold and not enough light outside.. so i am gonna get the fuel pressure gauge tomorrow and see what happens from there.

                      if it almost starts when you pull the fuel pump relay ....... that typically means you got too much fuel.

                        yup i know i got 2 much fuel.. i think my fuel pressure regular might be toast.. cause i turned it over a bunch of times with the plugs in and spark working with the fuel pump fuse unpluged. and it wouldnt start.. just really confusing..

                          I can honestly say Ive never seen a FPR all of a sudden go bad like that. I guess it could happen though.

                            well you remember my other problem of it bogging when i am just driving around town in 3rd or 4th around 3k it just boggs.

                            just doens tmake sense why all of a sudden it does that to me... freaking car drives me nuts.. next time i buy a fixer upper it wont have any engine codes...
