• HELP! safc/car issue

ok, so hooked up my safc-ii to my ion yesterday, car ran fine all yesterday and yesterday night. cranked it up this morning cause my mom wanted to see it, it did fine. now then...all yesterday, when i first cranked it up, i'd have to give it a little throttle at first, then the engine would idle and run fine. today, this morning the engine choked down and died. i went to restart it, and it runs like SHIT. exhaust went from a smooth tone to a "BRAH BRAH...BRAH BRAH" kind of deal. engine is vibrating like crazy.

i disconnected the safc from the MAF sensor wires and hooked the MAF wire back, directly into the ecm, and it's still running like shit. right now i got it sitting with the battery disconnected to see if resetting the computer will help.

anyone have any ideas?

*edit* and it smells RICH as fuck. my dad said it sounds like it's not firing all cylinders...but i dunno what that'd sound like.

flashing is tyipcally an ignition issue

check your IC connection

your rpm's are probably all over the place too from a funky/dirty signal

i put everything back the way it was. except the ignition and MAF sensor wires, which i had to cut (cut the ignition one on accident) to run to the safc.

the thing sounds like a flippin 2-stroke engine and i just drove it around the block, got no power. could barely get it up to 40mph.

my dad's uber-pissed right now and the car's still in his name...so he's talking about having it towed to the dealership and returned to stock condition.

also, the engine's vibrating like shit, and my radiator looks like it's coming loose from it's mounts.

[11:38] Schizzo941: it's an ignition issue
[11:39] Schizzo941: you have probably a seperated connection where you tapped it, you need to redo it and it should clear up
[11:39] Schizzo941: thats why it's rocking so much too

ok...car's in dad's name...so here's the dealio:

safc is out. harness is as back to stock as it can be. dad talked to my dealership, they're starting the ticket as warranty work so the towing will be free. they're returning all the electronics to stock condition. the manager told my dad that he'd try to get it all covered as warranty, but anything he doesn't swing as warranty i'm gonna haveta pay out of pocket.

i'm gonna save the SAFC for whenever i get a weekend toy. i'm just about to start school, work 40 miles from home, so i can't take the risk that my only mode of transportation's gonna get finicky and take a shit on me.

I think honestly that it was error in install

nothing specifically against you, but it's not like you have years of wiring and modification under your belt.

also, there are 05 and 06 2.2 cobalts running them without problems, so this also helps me come to that conclusion.

no offense taken man. i'm thinking that also. unfortunately, the car's not in my name, so right now with my parent's in "heil hitler" mode, i got no say it what happens to it.

there's 'balts with the bastard engines and computers running em? yayness

it could be something completely unrelated to the SAFC install as well. when I installed mine, my crank position sensor decided to take a dump at the exact same time. odd timing, but it does happen.
