• SAFC wiring and instructions question

picked up my SAFC-II today (thanx omar ). unfortunately, no instruction and whatnot, so i figure, no problem, i'll just download the PDF's.

well, i downloaded the PDF for the SAFC-II instruction manual, and now my adobe reader can't read it cause it says it doesn't have the jap font downloaded.

anyone know where i can get an english version of the SAFC-II wiring and instructions?

ok...instructions for an S-series aren't exactly going to help (i think), but thank you anyways.

anyone know of any other sites out there that have the english version of the SAFC-II instructions. or better yet, just what signal is supposed to go to each of the wires on the SAFC wiring harness?

I think this is what your talking about

Red wire: IG power
Red and white wire: IG power
green wire: RPM
Grey wire: Throttle signal
brown: ground
black: Ground
yellow: airflow and pressure signal output
White: airflow and pressure signal input
Orange: illumination

ok, found another diagram from a 3000gt/stealth site. it agrees with TSN on all the wires except the air reading colors.

TSN says:
Yellow Airflow/Pressure Signal Out to PCM (MAP Sensor)
White Airflow/Pressure Signal In from Sensor (MAP Sensor)
Pink Not Used
Orange Not Used

the other site says:
airflow in orange
airflow out pink
yellow and white not used

this would mean that since the TSN guide was written for MAP'd S-series, i shouldn't use the yellow and white wires on my ion since it's MAF'd. i should go with the stealth/3000gt site on the airflow wiring colors, since those cars were MAF'd.

i hope this makes sense.

so i think i've figured it out, if someone sees any errors, please lemme know.

brown- ground PCM side

green- RPM signal
gray- TPS
purple- Knock
pink- Airflow out

Bought a 2001 Saturn SC2 new, sold it in 2008, bought it back in 2017. I don't know why.

that still doesn't answer my question about which pair of wires to use for the airflow reading.

should i use the pair (yellow and white) that is used on the MAP sensor s-series. or should i (as i suspect) use the pink and orange pair which i have seen are used with MAF sensor stealths and 3000gts

i have a 2005 ion. MAF sensor.

I would try the MAF wiring that you have in mind.

bingo. that's why the 3000GT site and the saturn ones differ. one is to manipulate MAP voltage, and one MAF.

like I said I needed you to get the wire signals and colors on the SAFC2 harness so I can look them up in my FSM for 05's. when I get home I'll do a chart if I get a min or two.
