clutch/slave problem?

Could be the master/slave unit. A couple things to check would be;
1) the plastic tip on the end of the slave piston. If its gone, is can make it hard to shift.

2) can you pull it out of gear without using the clutch. It between accl and decle, there is a point that the engine puts not force on the drivetrain and the drive train puts no force on the engine, at that moment, you should be able to pull it out of gear without the clutch. If its still hard (and it will be it not at the certain moment), then the yellow guide bushing things in the trans are all smached up. They are the buching in between the shift forks and the slider bar gimmick that the shift fork rides on.

3) Also, check for the shift cabel comeing apart....this will result in movement being hard in both directions (up and down). Only way to fix it is new cables. In my experience, the outter shething comes out where it is hydrolicaly crimped onto the end by the trans...just look up at the starter and see if you can see any steel shetherin that isn't covered in the black outter casing...the casing should go to the part that crimps the shething.

Cables are good, I have replaced them twice on it, to make sure (we have many sets in the shop lol). My first feeling is that it might be the Slave setup, when I installed this particular one, I lost some fluid from it (thinking back) when it laid on it's side for a minute. I am gonna mess with that today once the engine cools down and probably grab another from the yard tomorrow. Beyond that, I will assume it's the tranny (hell, it's got 315K plus on it) and replace that damn thing all together.

One other thougt is, I noticed when I am on it hard, it never gives me trouble, when racing it has not happened yet. Probably due to me yankng on the shifter harder than normal driving.

I have been having a new problem with the shifting in the SC. I originally thought I was wearing out the clutch, wich was making me angry since I only installed the ACT about 4 months ago, but anything is possible.

I realized that it has to be someting else and maybe the slave is the issue because the problem is that I can't get it OUT of gear alot of times. I have to really pull the shifter HARD to get it out of gear. It never has any issues going in to gear and it's not all the time, there really is no rhyme or reason to it.

It does not seem to do it upon start-up or when you first start driving, starts to happen after a while (heat related??) and like I said, sometimes it does it and sometimes not. First might come out easy then second is a bear, then third is a bear, then back to second and out of second is easy. It makes no sense.

Anyway, anybody have any ideas?? I am going to pull the slave this weekend thinking that maybe it is not disengaging cltuch all the way sometimes and that is why I have to pull so hard.
