i posted before a couple weeks ago about a noise i heard when starting to drive my car

1) its really more of a rattle
2) happens in both reverse and drive
3) to repeat the noise i must shut off car and start again
4) always at ~1500 rpm.. doesnt matter distance
- i can drive around the parking lot, touch the gas and as long as i dont hit 1500 it wont make the noise. as soon as i start driving.. rattle noise.. or if i punch the gas as soon as i start the car i will get the noise. i asked my stepfather (over the phone) whose been a mechanic for a long time but he had no idea...(i dont know why it would only happen once though) if theres no ideas by tomorrow im going to have to call saturn.. thanks in advance

not wheel bearings

maybe something to do with the flexplate or torque converter or both?

it could be a bunch of things...that description is still pretty vague.

could be timing chain
could be lifter or roller
could be heat shield
could be cat debris

alot of could be's

If you're lucky, and this is common, then it's the heat-shield on the cat.... but seeing as it's only doing it at certain rpms......
wait.... does the A/C work? If not........ it could even be the A/C Clutch rattling.

Ohh boy... I feel bad for that dealership...these kinds of cars/customers are a tech favorite.

It only does it when lean in the seat like this, turn the igntion with your left hand, and pump the gas pedal 2 and a half times before putting it in "D"....but its not doing it now for some reason

yeah, i understand.. but it is repeatable as many times as you want just turn the car off and back on then hit 1500 rpms.. its not an every once in a while thing

How's your Top Axis Mount? AKA: Top Engine Mount, AKA: Top Motor Mount? I know this may sound kookie but, if it's at a certain RPM? I had this in my ole '97 SL2. I could always tell when my mount was bad. Certain things would rattle at a certain RPM. I believe it was around 1500RPM's to.

Good Luck!
