What year SC do you have??

My experience is only with Autometer so I'll tell you what I know from that.

Red - 12v+ (duh)
Black - Ground
Green - tach signal
White - Tach light -- I tap into the wire for the cigarette ashtray light, easy spot for what you need and is also controlled by the dimmer.

Also, there should be two small wires in loops on the rear of the tach, one brown and the other blue. You will want to cut both of the loops for a four cylinder application. Just cut them so they are no longer touching.

Depending on your year the spot for tach input changes.
