im not sure how to get all the fluid out of the torque converter without taking it out and dumping it.....but what i would do is take it out and dump it then fill it back up. drain the fluid out of the tranny then fill it full of thinner cheaper stuff to get all the particles loose, get it hot so its runnier then drain that to....finally put the good stuff in and you got urself a clean tranny....dont forget i think there is a magnet int he tranny pan clean that off real good to cause it has a bunch of metal shavings, change the filter to...
thats how i would do it, maybe there is an eaisier way

          okay there are 2 ways..........

#1: take it to a shop and have it flushed on the machine.

#2: take the upper trans line off the radiator (put bucket beneath hose of course), make sure tranny is filled (maybe even a little over), then start it up and put it in gear. let it run a bit, but make sure not alot has come out, then shut it off. fill trans back up, and do again. keep doing this till fluid is pure red. that will remove the fluid out of the torque converter. just make sure not to remove too much at a time!!!!

oh yeah it will probably help to stick a piece of hose over the end of the line pointing into the bucket, so it doesnt spray everywhere.

            Its easy.

1)Remove filter on the front of transmission (filter is red or black). You can't missit...its on the driver's side. You will want an oil filter wrench to aid in removal.

            2) remove magnet (if you have one) from the trans filter. Wipe it off a little bit...just whatever you can get off of it with a clothe. Put the magent on the new filter and spin it on where you just the old filter off of.

            3) Drain the fluid. On the bottom of the trans, there is a 15mm drain plug. It will be on pretty tight since it has been cooked into postion for who knows how long. Drain the fluid into a pan. Then install the drain plug. Give it one grunt pound of torque (about 15-20ft/lb).

            4) pull dipstick and install a funnel into the dipstick tube. (you will need a skinny tipped funnel). Add 5 quarts of AFT mecron/dexron 3.

            5) Re-install dipstick. You are done.

NOTE1: A oil fliter will NOT fit on the trans filter thread. The oil filter and trans filter may look alike, but are 2 comletely different filters.

NOTE2: WHen addin the aft , poor it very slowly. If you just dump the entire quart in at a time, the air trapped in the trans will "burp" out and splash ATF all over you engine bay, and might even splash onto a kidneyless McDrinkalot.
