Ahhh, that's normal. Its the slop in the drive line tigthening up. If you go to reverse and back to drive again, the noise should repeat.

I'd get your mounts checked, that would be the main problem if it is a problem.

i lied, its not a clunk, its more of a rubbing sound, 2 noises right after one another, havent tried the putting it in reverse and drive again, will try that later

does the whole car kind of buck at first? Whe nI from D straight into R it jerks kind of, but if I slide through D. N, and then R its fine.

That's because you're not supposed to do that you crazy nut. lol.

You have to STOP first before you shift from D to R, and vise-versa.

IDK could be mounts, or the brake cailpers/rotors loading up to keep the car from moving...or just the slop it the drive train tighening up.

My L200 tranny allows me to do stupid things like roll in reverse and punch it in drive and make a lot of tire tracks. Glad I'm gonna get a stick. lol

If there is anything wrong it would be the motor mounts. But like Sma said it may be the slack tightening up, my gf's car does it from time to time.

Is your car abs equipped? On my car, you hear a marble rolling sound, then a high pitched beep, and it only happens once every time i drive it. Cant recreate it even when going backwards then forwards. That sound is the ABS system running a self check. Try stepping on the brake in the middle of the self check and see what happens. It'll be VERY interesting.
