  • Clutch slave cylinder/pushrod question?

Was curious if a first/second/third gen clutch slave cylinder (the hydraulic system from the clutch pedal to the fork) is able to swap between the years? I was told the pushrod is different lengths on later models but I was curious if anybody knows for sure??

Yes...I believe it was in 99 (could be 2K too). Well when ever it was, it was when saturn also changed the clutch design. Te clutch with the wierd looking spring forks is when it changed.

If you stick to 91-98, you should have no problems.....unless the unit you get is ba to begin with.

Interesting, I picked one up from a '99 sedan at the yard yesterday. The engine was pulled but trans was still there. It was a replacement part and still had the two straps intact so installation was easy this time. The fork looked the same as my trans so I will assume it was 2k but thanks for the info, if it gives me trouble I will remember that.

I do remember when Jon had to replace his on a 2001SC2 and I think we had to use the pushrod from his car but were able to use the rest of the slave/master setup from an older model.

      Thanks for replying Sam.

I do know this is some diffenrence...but not 100% sure on what all is exactly diffenrent. There was an SC 3rd gen towed into the shop a couple years back. The guy just installed an ACT and when you put you clutch pedal down to the floor, the fork hit the pressure plate. I beleive a stock clutch, fork, and hydrlic unit was put in. I think the latest slave unit pushed out more... but IDK for sure. I just stick to the 95 stuff since I know it all works.

I think that is what happened to Jon. He has a third gen coupe w/ ACt and it was pushing too far so we changed the master/slave.

It seems to be working fine with my Act.
