ion 2nd gear

ok, i know something is wrong, so im taking it in but what is it.....im driving,and then i put it into 2nd gear and i hit the gas,and it pops it out of gear.....thought maybe i just didnt get it all the way in...did it again....POP out of place.....my other gears work fine....just cant get it into second so im driving around town 1-3.....hahahaha....also will my warrenty cover it....i do have a SS but its not that causing it....cant be.....but could some1 please elaborate on the problem......


ahhhhh damn its gonna be good not having "xupthree" giving me some answer like its my brake line or exhaust belt....hahaha

I would take it in for warranty....it should be covered as long as the tech can duplicate the problem.

Ohhh...short shifter...Yeah. put the old one back on before you bring it in for warranty repairs.

realistically, it could be the short shifter. there's a chance it might have stretched the cables or such and that's why it won't fully engauge.

could be you're not pushing far enough back into 2nd too, not uncommon on the ion tranny.

you can try to bring it in but you already know they're going to piss and moan about the shifter.

ok, i was gonna say i have had it in for a long ass time, with no problems before.....i have had a few major problems with the car....evap sensor(3 times...they had to change the whole gas tank system) and my wiper blades.....went completly off my windows.....and now my sun roof is having problems opening) so they should just fix this with no fucking questions asked......i gotta make a 4 hour drive to get the stock shifter on my car.....and that.....is the suck

The whole freaking gas tank.... WTF. And its my shop getting a audit by GM warranty...go figure.

ya it had something to do with, the gas cap not sealing right.....so they yanked the whole thing out.....i guess i could have died....hahaha....why do u think u all are getting audited? im taking it in with the SS, cuz i cant make it home to get the regular shifter.......i think it has something to do with the teeth in the gears...other people have SS with the ions and have more miles on them than i do i need to check and see if my car is a monday/friday.......so i guess we will see what happens....are the shops open on the 3rd or are u all closed?

We are getting the audit due to haveing a few steering colums replaced on the IONs...they are like 1200-1500 just for the part. We are the highest in that little sub section so it helped drive that average of other things up too.. We arn't too worried though, we cover our asses have done 99% of the stuff right.

The only thing is if the notes on the ticket are confusing or are not to par, every item on the ticket can get back flagged regardless of the complaint being fixed.

dubv just be prepared for a supporting argument if you get a tech who's not like we are, meaning they're going to not touch it due to a short shifter.

you're talking about the lock ring or synchro issue in 2nd right?

I just flogged the dogshit out of mine saturday at the track and she loved it, I think I have a FACTORY FREAK JUST LIKE JOSH LOL

i think its synchro....but i am gettin my shifter sent to me by the time im taking it in......i dont think its the linkage.....but then again i dont know much.....but wouldnt the linkage for the back gears also be fucked up too if it was cuz of my SS 4th and R....is what i would think....eh maybe i am wrong

That's exactly what I was thinking Anthony. If it's the SS causing the problem, you ought to have trouble in more than just 2nd gear. I drove his car on Saturday night and it was weird. Just driving aroudn the parking lot you shift from 1st to 2nd and it first it seems fine (i started think, OK, Anthony's just on something... Oh, know what....let me know when you're going up there and I could give the couple people I know a head's up to look for you if you want.
