  • high engine coolant temp light?

i have a 96 sl2 and my high engine coolant temp/Automatic trans fluid and low coolant level light periodically flashes a handful of times once in a while now i know my coolant level is good and i have a manual transmission and i know that fluid is full and clean. Plus both of these fluids were replaced 10k ago any ideas what to check next

Try looking at the history/ codes.

96= obdII, go to autozone and have them scan it. Dealership charges $75+ to scan the codes for you, that's just to hook up the little computer..... the same one they use at autozone.

Not exactly...the dealer uses one 100 times better. But the vatosone one will still give the cose...just won't access the logs of the engine perameters when the code acures.

Dumb question, but have you actually checked the fluid level?

If thats a go, then I say replace your ECTS with a brass one.

As for the fluid thing, I have heard you may need to clean the resovoir and sensor in there. Something about it gets dirty and grungy and once it cleaned it is fine.

I have yet to do this on my friends 96 SL2, but his will flash on once in a while, and we have checked everything when it did.

And if so freezeframe it and see the conditions it did it in IF you can reproduce the problem.
