  • Fuel Efficieny Drop

I have been thinking for the past couple of months that my MPG has gone down. Today I took a 34 mile trip and used an eighth of a tank. I think the tanks are 12 gallons, and if so, I only got 24 today, and thats pretty much stop and go. Isnt that kind of shitty for an SC2? Especially mine? I am just judging based off of todays trip, and I was using te air conditioner back and fourth, and had a passenger in te car with me too. I think I need to change my air filter as well.

For haveing the A/C on and in Stop and go, that's about normal. No a/c, you should be about 28-30ish. The hot ass weather doen't help.

yeah I figured the weather getting hotter would reduce it 1-3 but when I notice a drop of 6 I am kind of concerned. The car has been ating kind of weird lately like having trouble beathing, plus running rich isnt helping at all. I need a new air filter I think. I want that oilless AEM dry flow one.

The air fliter would have to be pretty dirty. Replace the coolant temp sensor (the bottom one)...that might be going bad.

changed that already and my filter is actually pretty dirty. Its got pollen and crap in it and you can see the rocks and stuff in the cotton. I been debating on doing a piston soak as well but I cant this week because I am getting the car painted.

also thats not a good way to check ur millage especialy since saturns have problems often with the gas guage not reading right. fill it up, set the trip to 000, run how ever long u want, fill up, then divide; gallons / miles = gas millage.

with my sl2 i get about 33 if im straight highway, 30 if its a mix, 27 city, and if im delivering pizzas and fucking around and runing fast for no reason then the lowest ive gotten is 24.5

guys I know how to check MPG, and I know what equations to use. I am just not sure if the tanks was 12 or 10 gallons, and now im really confused by you guys lol. I think it was just a fluke yesterday, and maybe that was it. Ill have to see when I drive more then.

welcome to my world! Even with mostly highway driving, I can NOT get over 24 MPG. With all of the ods I have, it should be well over that. I'm the only Saturn owner who doesn't know what 30 MPG looks like. Thank God for my Focus, 28 MPG City, and about 37 MPG highway.

but this isnt a common thing for me, I actually NOTICED a change awhile back in MPG, aside from te fact that our saturn is a rolling audio store, mine has engine work done that would help my MPG, so it was strange to see it just drop down so suddenly.

I read on cars.com that it is a 13 gallon tank on the 95. now wtf mates. I have to fill up at 1/2 and see what it is and figure out that way.
