  • battery light flickering

when it seems to be humid out, or raining my battery light seems to flicker on and off especially at mid range rpms, i had a new high output alternator installed last year, i know the alternator is good any suggestions?

When that happens, the alternator is going dead.

I give it about 2 weeks before its 100% dead.

            lol right

check the fusible link, might be fried

where did you get this high output alternator from? just because it's under a year old doesn't mean it is automatically good.

              exactly ^^
if you can wiggle some wires around while its running and listen to the sound of the alt and hear it stop charging you might be able to find it
my wifes 97 sc had a new alt and after a week the regulator went bad and they gave me a new one but only after i soldered in a new connector and it didnt work
and check the wire that goes between the alt and starter

i got the alternator from alterstart, i ordered it over the internet, any reason why the battery light would flicker only when it is humid or raining out, And other times you wil never see it

Make sure you have a good connection between the starter, the fuseable link and the alternator. Over tightening the nut on the starter and/or the alternator can casue this.

Also, if it on;y does it when its raining. Check the belt. If the belt is slipping the that could be your problem too. If the belt is tight, it can still slip due to glazing...replace the belt. If the tension is weak, replace the tensionor.

FTW!!! Might have a loose connection adn when its humid or rainy it acts up, possible high resistance.

and if the tensioner and idler arent too new you might as well change em
mine had no tension after like 20k and the guy who put it on fell off the face of the earth
