• gotta fix this today!!!!

commin back from the coast, bout 120 miles one way, i heard a loud clicking coming from the engine....pull over and i think its a lifter but im not sure. it was one quart low so i added some and the noise didnt stop... it sounds like its comin from the passenger side of the intake cam...

i think its a lifter but i need some other ideas cause pullin that top end is a bitch....
and 2day is our anniversary so i wanna get this shit fixed ASAP

grrr heads are a pain in the arse

i pulled the cams out and checked the lifters and they are good so im guessin its a bent valve....
new head would be cheaper than a valve job so of to the junkyard i go

....pity who woulda thunk havin no blinker fluid in my vtak controller would cause my flux capacitor to run at triple capacity and torch some valves....

i dont think its a stuck lifter, i pulled them all out one by one and they came out easy and went back in easy

now i cant get the damn cam back in cause the timing chain tensioner is a bitch and a half and im NOT pullin that cover off its too much of a pain in the ass, is there any way to get them back in without pullin the timing chain cover?

if you let the tension out, then no, you need to pull the cover

also just because the lifters came out of the head doesn't mean they might not be stuck

um.....thats not what we mean by a stuck lifter. A stuck lifter is one can no longer move with the cam (internal issue in the lifter itself) that intern depending on where it gets stuck, makes the cam slap into it, hence the clicking noise. Take the lifters out one by one and put your thumb on the underside of the lifter and forefinger on the top of hte lifter and squeeze. if it moves a fair amount, that lifter is good. if it does not move, that is a stuck lifter and needs to be rebuilt or replaced. If you are going to have any lifters rebuilt I recommend http://www.mizpahprecision.com. did a great job with mine, 3 day turn around and shipped back submersed in lube.

call them, send the lifters, they call you for a credit card number, you give it to them, they send you back basically new lifters.
