  • Oil filler cap Problem!!

So i got a used valve cover off ebay that I was going to polish up and put on. However I just ended up getting it powder coated instead, so I installed it and it looked great went to put in the filler cap and no good.. I had no idea that there was more than one type of cap for saturns and neather did the local saturn dealer. I solved the problem for now but I had to get a ugly cheap shity one from Pep Boys and it doesnt even go in all the way. The old cover had the typical notch that the cap tightend down to, but on the new one it needs a threaded one like hondas and nissans take. Does anyone know what I am talking about, everyone I bring this to looks at me like im retarded... And it looks retarded with the one that i have on it right now so i really need the right one..

I've only ever seen one style of cap as well that goes 1/4 to 1/2 turn in there. it probably didn't want to fit due to the poweder coating being on the sides, so the space is smaller. I had the same problem at first with my crinkle coat until it wore in from doing oil changes.

I have seen two types of Caps for the aluminum valve covers. I gave both of the ones I had to Luis when I sold him the car. One was a grey plastic with no writing on it that was kind of porous. The other was the plack plastic one with writing on it that looked just like the one on the composite covers

maybe that's it, the porous one may give enough to thread in? I saw taht cap at his house but I didn't know it was any different. I thought was only the coolant caps that changed, no shit Jeff

Do you have any u-pull it yunk yards around you? Thats where I got mine. Other than that, take the cover up to Saturn and tell them to match it up.

Yeah, I ran into the same problem. My issue was between a '92 aluminum valve cover and a '93. I too noticed the different caps (although they were both black and looked the same on the outside.

Also, in the aluminum valve covers I noticed an extra bolt location in the plug valley. My '93 had only three and this other one had four. I noticed it AFTER I had sanded and prepped the cover for paint lol.

yeah omar's had the extra hole too. I get a rubber gasket from the regular bolts and stretched it over a wheel stud, then sealed it in there, works like a champ.

LOL, I thought of something like that but decided against it (for looks). I could not believe I prepped the damn thing, ground off the lettering and such and then realized something did not look right.

believe it or not you can't even notice it, I was shocked but it blends right in with what's left of his krinkle coat valve cover

Yea I noticed the extra holes too mine had two the one near the plugs and one along the back but my head was threaded for it so i just grabed a couple more valve cover bolts and used em. Didnt make sense to me why they didnt use that desing for all of them.
