okay besides piston rings and valve seals how else can the llo engine burn oil?

i (along with jay and sam) replaced the piston rings about 20k ago and with the new head now installed the valve seals are brand new at about 400 miles.

reason i am asking is because i still get a gray/blue smoke from my exhaust. i know it is possiable that either one of those areas still can be bad but lets rule it out for now.

the odds of a head gasket failure only causing oil comsumption is quite small

how much oil is it goin thru??

hmm very possiable. couldn't that also mess with starting the engine up too?

i have to check the plugs. the way it start makes it seem like a plug is fouled. until it gets some heat on it.

as far as the head gasket it is new and there is no white smoke nor is there any power loss.

okay changed the pcv valve and new plugs.

the old plugs(ngk7e-11) were showing signs of being a little rich. for shits and giggles i checked the gapping on them and they were .450 to .475. okay so they were a little out of gapping. i believe ours are suppost to be.400.
i bought some cheap autolight 3924 while i was out just to test weather it was the plugs contributing to the problem.

they are not the 2 step colder plugs like i was running but i figure i will just grab some of the 2 step colder plugs when i go and get the bottle filled.

seems not as much exhaust smoke and appears that it is running rich.

this is probablly due to the new cams and i still don't have the safc installed yet.

on a different note i was just on a test ride and a v6 monte carlo late 90's early 2000's style was riding next to me and i hear him get on it (we were doing about 30 ish on 19)and start moving away from me so i down shift and pull past him. hahhaa he looked over at me as i passed and i just smiled and waved.
