• car won't start

I've been having some electrical problems here and there. I posted about it earlier, just the door locks energizing over and over again, the dome lights coming on and off, and the alarm going off al the fucking time.
Well, yesterday morning it wouldn't start at all. Turn the key and >click< that's it. it won't crank at all. the battery is ok, because i can run the radio and stuff. tried to jump it, but that didn't work. I'm hoping i can push-start it and get to the dealership.
And i need to find another ride to work, so i hope the dealer will loan me a car while mine gets fixed (yeah, right). at least it's uner warranty and i have rental reimbursment from the insurance company.

anyone have any ideas what's wrong?

sounds like your alarm may be fucked up and disabling your starter.

is it an aftermarket alarm or factory?

btw moving to Technical

i had the same thing happen to me. it was the ignition switch. how cold was it out?

also i know this is guna sound crazy. but when mine did it after a few attempts to start it.... well a sound came from some where like a dial up modem.

did that happen to you or do i just have a factory freek that likes to talk to me?

no modem sounds here, and it's been warm. it's the factory alarm, and now it's sitting at the dealer overnight. hopefully they can solve the problem tomorrow and get it fixed quick.

yeah, it's the ignition switch, has to do with the whole passlock gimmick. mine did that a few weeks back and had it replaced.

Yep, ignition switch would be my first guess. Especially if it's messing with everything else like that. If you still have problems after they replace the switch, ask them to look at the BCM. I had a somewhat similar problem with mine, and they ended up having to replace the BCM. Good luck!

ok, so it's an ION-specific problem...

disregard my post

While that may be true, at least myself and one other redline owner have needed our BCMs replaced. The techs tried everything else and I still had problems. Replaced the BCM...no more problems.

until they replace the actual electric switch, it's not going to start. the cylinder isn't the same thing (though service people who are not tech's usually tell you the wrong terms anyway)
