Re: spring compressors
not hard at all... you clamp em on, tighten em down and pop the top off the strut.... (thats the hardest part, the big ass bolt at the top of the strut)
go to AutoZone and "borrow" theirs (they ask for like $50 to hold until you return it, then give you your money back)
Ask for McPherson(sp?) spring compressor tool
and no other mods need to be made
99SL2 w/97SC2M Engine/Trans Swap, CAI, 2.25 Custom Exhaust

i got one ill sell ya for $20 bucks wont work on an eco head Originally posted by ECOtec GodsConsider this: 800 hp is a lot on a 2.0L motor. With 750hp, three-quarters of a thousand you're basically dealing with 6.14 hp per cubic inch. Pressures and stresses of all kinds thermal and mechanical loading across the board escalate to extreme levels. A Chevrolet 5.7-liter LS1 V8 with this much specific power (horsepower per cubic inch) would be making 2,137 hp

well i didnt even use a spring compressor. first time i had my uncle press down on the strut mount while i removed the bolt and came off easy. then second time, i loosend the strut bolt from the mount and lowered the pressure off the strut till it came out.
but as long as you dont go more then 2" some go 2.5" (not talking about the ions) then alignment should be able to be brought back. so you dont need anything elseIan---The Fat Ass

don't screw around with stuff under pressure like that, do it the right way with a compressor.

So....with a spring compressor it'd be pretty easy to do a full spring swap by myself? Or maybe with blueiondubv helping me? Interesting....need to get springs here soon, and that would be sweet to do it myself.

2005 ION Redline
Competition Package - welfare intake, antenna delete...more to come!

2007 SKY Redline (technically the wife's car)
Sunburst Yellow
Manual Tranny
