Ok so this may be hard to explain but give me a chance haha. I got the clutch and such out of the car yesterday and found a very odd wear pattern on the Flywheel side of the Pressure plate fingers..... the inside hub actually came in contact with the back side of the fingers and wore the rivet off of the clutch hub. Has anyone seen something like this happen? the only thing i can think of is the Throw out bearing came loose and was sliding freely between the fork and the pressure plate cause it to come in contact

98 sc2 with a 2000 trans..... 2000 clutch and Slave. Yes got the flywheel sent out to be turned and cleaned up, pressure plate, clutch, throw out bearing, and fork are all on their way. Im just gonna make sure everything is cleaned up and installed to spec. Car was originally an Auto and swapped to a manual

added Transmission had less than 30k on it...... + about 10 bottles of Nitrous [img]{SMILIES_PATH}/lol.gif[/img] but the kit has been removed from the car for about the last 7500 so i wasnt spraying at the time. A very gentle accel from a stop and then things went iffy

god the more i think about it the more i get things mixed up. if nothing is wrong with the pressure plate, it sounds like maybe the fingers were coming into contact with the hub upon clutch disengage like its disengaging too far.

you can look at the wear ring about a 1/4 way up the fingers, its dirty and doesnt show that it scored the teeth pretty good, but its officially effed..... the actual clutch material itself really didnt look that bad, I didnt Mic it or anything but It just wasnt what i expected when i tore it all down

yeah i see the ring. those fingers had to have been depressed into the hub upon disengagement, or at least my thoughts. another thing is that pressure plate looks odd, i dont know if they changed pressure plate designs or what but that doesnt look like mine or any other pressure plate ive seen for a saturn.

99+ has the "Unliked" hydraulically adjustable pressure plate...... basically it gives a really really shitty pedal feel and makes it really fun to get the right parts..... Note to all when using a new style pressure plate..... use a new style slave or you will most likely run into problems

i mean thats still strange, ive seen a clutch out of an 01 that was similar to mine. seen a couple of them in the 3rd gens just like mine that were stock. i love my 2nd gen [img]{SMILIES_PATH}/lol.gif[/img]Ian---The Fat Ass

Ya know i kept on telling myself that...... I couldnt figure out what looked odd about the pressure plate..... i had it laying next to a pre-99 and it was different, and I honestly dont remember seeing one like it..... but hey it ran for 30k so who knows...... ahh who knows..... hopefully with all the knew parts I can get the car back on the road..... Sure looks clean jacked up in the air lol
