I have a 2001 SC2 and put a msd sytem with the coils, coil interface and msd dis 2. I am having problems with the SES light comming on. I've adjusted the MSD-DIS2 by turning the white switches on the side of the DIS and got results ranging from the car not starting to a rev limit of 3k.When I get the car to run corect the SES light comes on. How do you guys with the MSD set up have the switches set up?

you need a cam sync generator and wrap it around plug wires # 4.

    here's a link.

I don't know if that will work in this case Elvis

James - if you don't get your answer here check TSN, I know there's quite a few there running the system

What exactly does it do for a NA saturn? I could see adding spark but what about the rest it claims?

it's a stronger spark, though OEM coils are very stout as it is

          also used for timing retard

this is not just the replacement coils, he's talking in regards to the DIS2 system.

lets keep the shit out of the tech section while we're at it, thanks

Did he purchase the cam sync generator??? I don't know for sure because with my MSD Dis-2 and the first gen I did not need it but I am pretty sure he will.

I also have the interface moduals and the MSD coilpacks and have never had a single problem since day one.

To be honest I just put it on hoping for even better gas milage. It was a old friends that isn't using it anymore. It's been sitting in his garage for months so I put it on my car. I feal maybe a little more umph out of the engine but I think that's just but dyno wishful thinking. I noticed a real differnece at idle, much smoother.

Seems to be running good, Haven't noticed anything bad...well except for the ses light. The only reason I care about that is getting the car smogged with that light on.

Its thecam code, can't rember the number exactly. It's pending for about 2 0r 3 startups with no ses light. After a few good sarts the ses light comes on.

It's gotta be the lack of having a cam sync generator. I remember having to go through MSD's catalogue when I was shopping and found out I did not need one. However, I believe '96 and up do (OBDII) If you are throwing a cam code, that's gotta be it.

** From MSD's website--- The Cam Sync Generator was designed primarily for Saturn applications with a DIS-2 installed. It can also be used for other waste spark applications.

After installing an MSD Dis ignition control on some waste spark ignition systes, the ECM of the vehicle may not be able to recieve a cam sync signal. The Cam Sync Generator will produce a cam sync signal after start up for the factory ECM. This is done by detecting a cylinder that is under compression by it's signal wire wich is wrapped around the designated spark plug wire. On Saturn applications the number four spark plug wire is used for the cam sync.
