    NO OIL PRESSURE...... problem.

alright so EVERYTHING is put back together and all we need is oil pressure so we can put those damn plugs in and start'er up. well we borrowed an oil pressure gauge from my friends dad that is a mechanic and hooked it up into the oil pressure sending unit hole... and well after lots of cranking and recharging the battery and more cranking we still havent gotten the damn needle on the gauge to move. what was 'turboo' talking about with the press the gas pedel down 80%. is that 'while cranking?' and what does that do exactly, i have the fuel pump relay unhooked. talk to me peoples!!

oh and he also said somethin about unhooking ( what sounds like ) the ignition coils... theres 2 big plugs underneath the coils. whats this about and whats the reason. help is greatly appreciated.

I hope you didnt reverse the crank gear like vinny did with me lol...

the thing about remove the wires from the coils was to see if there was any voltage coming through the ignition and to see if it jumps terminals or something like taht. To get oil pressure up I know you have to crank is and keep it there but not blow your starter, and then when your oil light goes off it means you are at pressure, BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT I am not TOO sure of all of this, so lets see what others say

well my oil light isnt on anyway.. possibly cause i have the sending unit unplugged. so what do u mean about the crank gear backwards.. u mean the big ass gear on the side of the block? and we've done a lot of cranking.. what would cause a starter to blow, cause i dont want that shit.

not the pulley, THE GEAR under the pulley, under the timing chain. did you even disassemble the timing chain and stuff? if you didnt then I doubt taht is it.

i've taken every single thing apart in that motor.... but im pretty sure that thing is on right. so its the bottom gear ont he timing chain? and if its on backwards..what happens?

not on backwards, but rather, the little line on te gear isnt lined up with where it should be, and then your timing is off 180 degrees, which means sucking in throug hthe muffler and shooting flames out of your intake. its hapepend to me before. I hope its not that though, because it is a bitch to take everything off again....lets wait till some more knowledgeable people come into this thread to tell you what it might be. It just might be the oil pressure isnt up yet, or that the gauge doesnt work because of electrical problems....I dont know, so just wait a lil.

There is no way to put that gear on backwards. There is a key way, so it can only go on one way. Now, if Vinster point the line downward...well that's different, and I don't know what to tell you other then" Well he IS your brother" (man, i'm on a roll tonight, Thank you Abbot Ale"

This may sound stupid, but is there oil in the engine?

Also, what is the lowest the gauge reads. ON a fesh crank like that, you migh only get 7-15 psi while cranking, and if the gauge starts at 15-20psi, it might not be see jack, or shit. Take the oil filter off, and fill it 1/2 full of oil. If the filter is empty, then the pump has to pump it full first. If the filter is wet, you know there is oil pressure and the guage is bunk. Screw the sending unit back in, and plug it back into the harness. Crank it fro 10secs and let rest for 20secs. The oil light should be out after the 3rd 10sec crank.

sounds good to try anyways. i do have the oil filter filled..well not 'filled' but theres more than half in there. and also there are 4 quarts of oil in the egine. and we borrowed the oil pressure gauge from a mechanic we are friends with so i'm sure that it works cause its his only one and he uses it so it must work. and i dont think the gauge starts at 15..i think more lower like 5 or 10. SO YOUR SAYING to just screw the regular sensor back in.. crank it 10.. let it sit 20.. crank it 10.. let it sit 20 then crank it and this accomplishes what.. cause i dont think my oil light is on anyway.. (not sure, causei have the gauge plugged in, but i dont think the light comes on)

you probably have pressure, but the gauge isn't working.

but i cant believe that a mechanic who owns his own shop and works on numerous cars dail would have an oil pressure gauge that doesnt work...its the only one he uses and he's a family friend so unless it just broke, sitting in the truck on the way over to the shop...then it should work.. (should)

i bet your started went because it overheated due to all the cranking. you should never crank more the 10 secs and always give the starter time to rest before cranking it again.

now as of oil pressure, did you lube everything upon install? if so you can start it and keep an eye on the oil pressure, and if no pressure or if its very low after about 2 secs shut the engine down. also did you make sure the pick up tube is secure to the block? if it isnt sealed it can just leak the oil back down. you could pull one of the oil valley plugs out of the back of the block(torx bolt next to the pressure sensor) and see if oil comes out while cranking.

thanks for the information saturnspeed. well i know mechanics who have said it could take a few minutes of craking till oil pressure builds up so i dont believe that would mess up my starter... that sounds like a good idea with the oil galley plug thing, might have to try it. and well about the oil pickup...someone else put that together and i dont know if it was tightened up right or not so i just pray it is. is there a way to take the oil pan off w/o taking the motor out of the car?
