• Another tire thread

So I have been looking around @ tires. I've heard good things about the Azenis, but which one? The ST-115 or RT-615? I was browsing tirerack and found these.

I wanted to run a 205/50/15 tire judging from what everyone has said in past threads. Comments/Suggestions? The ECSTA-ASX's are the cheapest.

MT. Goal is good summer/spring/fall, read 5-6 months of the year, tires that eventually will be put under 200-250hp. They need to have good traction for both the powa and the crap weather we have here. I have a sway bar incoming, new shocks, STB's in place, and already have B+G's.

Define crap weather. Snow or not?

How many miles you want out of them?

              Limited to 15" wheels?

Uh, dood, it's montana. Every type of conceivable weather pattern besides tsunamis and hurricanes happens here, regularly. All of us develop driving skills, as in slowing down, to compensate. Those who don't wreck the vehicle or die. We are also used to getting about one year out of our tires before having to replace them. Half the year big gnarly studded snows and the other half all seasons (X 2) effecitvely. Driving two hours is normal in MT, thus the shortened life span. Driving 3-4 hours is also considered an average trip and it takes 9 1/2 @ 75 to cross the state. It snows in July sometimes. Limited to 15's, don't want super big no wheel gap tires though, it's a bad idea up here. There are 3" hummocks all over the roads right now because it goes from 50 to 0 degrees everyday. (It's a warm spell...)

I guess if you need to have an all season, Ziex 512s or ASXs will do. Be warned though, performance is not even comparable to a summer tire.

Have you heard anything about the Yoko AVS ES100? Seem to get pretty decent reviews. $328 for the AVS w/shipping vs. $345 for the Azenis w/free shipping. Same size. I can get away with a summer tire.

Its not a bad tire. Its not a max perf. like the Azenis are. Its more along the lines of the Kumho 712 or SPT.

You want Azenis, RS2s, or MXs.

But I'd save that $300 and GTFO.

I run the ES100s. They're a decent summer tire. They won't grip like the MX or the Azenis, but they'll last longer for sure. Also, I've never had hydroplaning problems in rain, fwiw.
