  • While we are on the topic of tires ......

whats the biggest tire I can fit on a 17x7 wheel?

please don't tell me all the reason why I want a smaller tire cause I don't. My car is slow, it not gonna be all the slower with bigger tires, I'll live.

    I have 215/45R17s on now.

I wanna get AT LEAST a 225 tire. 225/40 would be perfect but they don't have that. They do have a 235/40 which would be sexy, but I dunno if that'll fit on a 7" wheel

    they also have a 225/35R17

im not worried about the car, im concerned with the size of the wheel.

I have a 7" wheel, how wide is the one you are using?

I know you can fit a 225 on there with the right wheel offset. You'll need an offset of about +32mm to +35 mm. As far as tire height, most of these aren't that far off of stock.

        195/60/15 - 24.1" - Stock tire
225/45R17 - 24.97" - taller tire = harder to fit, less room to lower car AND worse acceleration.
225/35R17 - 23.20" - Shorter = better looking, better handling and better acceleration! We have a winner!
235/40R17 - 24.40" - taller tire = harder to fit, less room to lower car AND worse acceleration. Pretty close to stock though.
        235/45R17 - 25.32" - WAYYYY to tall...def not!

im not really worried about fitting them at this point. Im going to need spacers for a future project so that'll be settled. As far as lowering the car, I'm actually looking to RAISE it, as of now the axles are on such a fubar'd angle the whole car wobbles.

so assume this is on a monster truck. I dont care about fitting the car at all, ill make it fit. Im not worried about acceleration at all.

My main concern is will i be able to fit a 235/40 tire onto a 7" wheel.

well I know I can fit it, but what will the side effects be?
