• Front motor mount

    Mostly to Vinny, but....
I went out on my lunch break and looked at the mount, the one that bolts to the bell housing w/ 3 bolts and to the support member, I took pictures but I can't upload them till I get home tonight, but the mount is comprissed of 2 steel supports off of the front support, and an entirely plastic honeycomb styled housing with a steel drum that the rubber mount w/ bolt shank is preesed into it.

The mount materieal is very similar in tactial sensation to my r/c car compents that are plastic infused with carbon fiber, and they look about the same.

and how do you add pic's to your post?

ah son of a bitch why did they have to change that

the one in the 03-04 looks like this (after being filled mind you):

now, if you have the same mounting points as that turd, then you should also be able to use the old style.

          OR

I could fill that style, but I have no idea how the casing would hold up to the added stress

that was my next question.... would you even want to try to fill one? is the integrty their? and do you think that the mount would really hold up to continual stress?

well, if it's still empty from the side in the center section as these are, then yeah you still would want to fill it

now as far as the structure enduring the addes stress, you'd assume that if they switched designs that it was able to take the same pressure levels, but I'm not so sure. I'd have to check it out hands on to get more of a grasp of how strong it actually is

This is why I'm talking to that guy from the RL forums. To get some decent mounts to replace that crap.

well the one in my picture is listed as a replacement for the mount you both have. if one wanted, and the bolt-up points are the same (which it really looks to be), you could put one of those in it's place. it's like 60 bucks too so not too bad. I'm thinking though that the plastc crap might be able to take it, I'm going to check ace's whenever he comes by and take a look. if one of you guys would want to test it for me for the cost of shipping maybe we could work it out.

After spending a good 1/2 hour looking at it last nightI really couldn't justify spending the money on filler materials. The shits plastic, who in there right fucking mind make a motor mount out of plastic????? If I do anything for now I'll go get a 03-04 mount and then I'll think about filling it, next time you get a chance could you verify that the mounts are in the same locals betewn 04-05 that way I dont waste any money one one, Thanks

yeah no problem Tony, I plan on it soon.

I actually have to take a look at mine anyway, I'm getting noise again up front, one of the bolts must have backed itself out a bit, just not sure which one.
